Default Roku - Chromecast - Slideshow

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar enough with a streaming device (Roku, Chromecast, Fire Stick, etc) that will allow you do put together a slideshow remotely (ie: on my desktop) and have it displayed in another room?

I'd like to have a slideshow playing on loop on two TVs in another room. I'd like to be able to edit the slideshow whenever I want from my desktop.

Essentially, I want ADs running on these TVs. New picture ever 5-6 seconds, en loop, forever. With a few clicks add/remove pictures.

It's not that I'm not sure if this can be done, it's just with so many options and apps I want to be sure I'm getting one that does this basic thing.

The Chromecast is an interface to another device. For this to work, you'd need to keep a tab open on your PC with the slideshow on it at all times - probably not what you want. Roku would be very similar unless you create a custom Roku app, or find an existing app to do this.

My suggestion would be to get a cheap Android TV box which has onboard storage ($60 or less). Then create an album in Google Photos, and set up the Android TV box to show that album as a slideshow. Then when you are ready, you can dump more photos into that album on your PC, and it should be updated on the TV next time the album loops.

You can do that with a Chromecast, just set the background photo to a google photos album. Then swap out pictures in the album as needed. I think the only issue with that is you have the clock overlay. Not sure if you can turn that off.

You guys rock.

I figured I could take a week researching what I want to do, or 30 seconds here and I have an answer.

I have an answer.

Thanks again!

Not to hijack the thread, but kind of

Never really looked into these type of units, however the brother-in-law has asked for one for Christmas since he works in the field 90% of the time and isn't home enough to really make use of a cable subscription.

Can anyone give me the short and skinny on which of these would be considered the "better" one etc.
I suppose I could read up on it as well but figured I'd reach out just because I can.

Cheers,

ian
