Incidentally since it seems some people aren't aware, you can watch the play-by-play of your teams games by going to the NHL Scores & Schedule screen on game day and clicking on the "Play" button under the game (right now it usually loads the previous day so you'll need to navigate to the current day). There really isn't anything you can do during the game to affect the outcome at the moment, but you can swear at your stupid players who give up 20 shots in the first period... Just be aware that if the game you are watching goes to overtime there is a bug with it getting stuck in an endless overtime period.

Also, because this a beta I recommend setting the auto-save to daily or weekly instead of the default of every season.

According to the dev board ricosuave linked to there should be an update released on Monday.

Click on league menu, use the dropdown to select the AHL (it's under the United States), then in the team menu use the drop-down to select the team you're interested in and go to the Lines Setup as you normally would.

Alternative: go to your "team home screen" and click on your affiliate team name.

I'm glad they are rewriting the player valuation code for one of the next updates. It's kind of insane right now. I'm playing the current season as Calgary and have fallen out of the playoff race so I've trade-listed Iginla and Kiprusoff. Nobody is offering anything for Iggy and I just got offered George Parros (and a 5th round pick) for Kipper. While the Parros 'stache is sure to be worth a win or two I'm going to reject it. I think I can probably get a third round pick for Iginla and maybe a second for Kipper.

They claim that at least the career ending "cut ear" injuries have been fixed so that should help . The new update also supports player photos so people may want to download the photo pack linked from a thread on the ootp board.

We're almost there! I've been avoiding playing the Beta too much since I want to be able to play the final release and keep my save going for a while.

The last couple of beta updates have been getting quite a bit better, but I think it's going to be a few months after release before the game is "complete". They have announced that they plan to release updates for awhile after the official release date. Right now the stats and scouting are weak and the stability isn't where it needs to be. It sounds like the trade AI in the last build has improved and the historical mode is a lot of fun already (can you prevent the dark years of the Flames following their cup win? can you win the cup in less than 40 years after joining the league unlike the Canucks?). As long as you don't expect the polish of FM or OOTP it's an enjoyable game.

Nice to hear about the trade AI. It was one of the most annoying things about it when I bought it sometime during the spring.

Let's just hope that the game sells well so that they decide to release a second version where they have the time/staff to improve everything that might be missing/lacking in this version.

The developers have stated that they will release a second version next fall and that they have a feature wish list that will take them a large number of versions, but like anything else talk is cheap. I'm hopeful given the track record they have with OOTP, but I would have said the same thing about EHM when the guys behind Football Manager took it over.
