I'm pretty sure the day one launches of the PS4 were sold out. The flyer was a bit misleading because it was actually for day one Xbones.

A new rumor suggests that PlayStation 4 developers will be able to use less than 70% of PlayStation 4’s RAM for games.

While Sony’s new console will contain 8GB of DDR5 memory total, Digital Foundry reports that 3.5GB of that space is reserved for the operating system, leaving only 4.5GB available for games. Anonymous sources clarified to Digital Foundry that 1GB of the reserved RAM is available as “flexible memory” and “may be reclaimed from the OS reservation, based on availability,” making 5.5GB potentially accessible.

It'll be the same with Xbox One. That's how it is with every modern computer although memory is a little more flexible in other architectures. A 3.5GB reserve seems a bit much for a console.

With the amount of background processing it's not shocking. The PS3 at the moment can do frustratingly little in the background, so I'm almost happy to see allocation like this.

In response to a question on Twitter about purchasing PS4 games from a smartphone, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida responded, "When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after that."

I believe that it will carry your username forward is assumed. The question I've heard tossed out more often is whether we'll be able to change the username without losing the account. They've been scary quiet on that question.
