2020(maybe) MLB Season Thread
With opening day tomorrow, it seems like it's time to start the 2020 MLB season thread.
The question I have is, what is the over/under on games completed before it gets shutdown?

This is going to be interesting, especially for teams based in the hotbed locations of US (Florida, California, Texas). These locations tend to be more “happening” as well, so visiting teams can be tempted to shirk responsible actions.

I predict the full season happens with playoffs, but pretty much everyone on one teams gets COVID-19 and they forfeit their remaining games.

Not following much other than the Jays, are any other teams still up in the air for being able to play at home?

I just want to see Astros getting plunked 5 times a game.

Question is what are the hotspots going to be a month or two from now especially as we get into September. I hope the players are able to do this as it’s largely within their control.

Yup, I think it's gonna happen. I'm not sure the players will respect this season, being a traditional sport and all, so I definitely see the Astros belted all year. I'd tune in every game because there will have to be a breaking point for all those players, which will probably lead to more beanballs.
By the way, what happened to the rumors of the Yanks and Sox also being involved with cheating? Were they BS?

IIRC Sox were dinged a 2nd round pick and their video replay guy was suspended a year. Or something like that. They were found to have cheated but not to the severity of the Astros. Just another joke of a slap on the wrist by arguably the worst commissioner in sports.

True but the reality is that championship will always now be tainted. I think they should have stripped it, but absent that, it will always have a virtual asterix attached to it.

Maybe. The last two days each saw over 1,000 COVID deaths in the USA.

Anyone use the MLB at bat app? I was listening to a few games this week but the audio wouldn't run as soon as my phone went to sleep (this has never been an issue in the past). I had to just leave my screen on at the lowest possible brightness to keep the audio going. Has this happened to anyone else, or is this just my problem?

Juan Soto has tested negative but hes out the next few days.
Also they have been approved a 16 team playoff
Each league top 2 in each division plus 2 wildcards.

Two homers early. Maybe the ball flies better in the summer heat and an empty stadium.

Nats park always plays small in the summer heat. And it's damn hot around here!

I’m still confused as to how A-Rod leveraged a disastrous finish to his career, and basically being public enemy #1, into a full time TV gig with ESPN. He must have some friends in high places. Also doesn’t help that I find him as irritating as a broadcaster as I did a player.

It is like a greater force doesn’t want MLB to start, already a rain delay, looks like a lot of rain.
