Hot takes for 2019-20

- Tkachuk signs a bridge contract and follows it up with a Nylander-like season.
- Calgary regresses and is on the bubble for the wild card, keeping all nervous as they look like they could possibly miss the playoffs.
- Flames goaltending struggles all season and the Flames have to rely on a call up post All Star break to find anyone who can play with any consistency.
- Flames get hot with said call up and squeak into the wild card, then go on a 1986 like run.
- Vancouver surprises and is in the wild card position until the trade deadline, but fall apart under the pressure and miss the post season.
- Johnny Hockey plays his last season in Calgary and is traded to Philadelphia for a number of assets at the draft that make the club better in the long run.
- Backlund struggles without Tkachuk doing the heavy lifting. Frolik gets pressbox duty as a result of Peter forcing Lucic into a scoring role. The second line struggles and Frolik becomes a distraction, forcing a trade by American Thanksgiving.
- Milan Lucic is a massive bust and is relegated to the press box by Christmas.
- Jankowski scores 20 goals on a line with Dube and Mangipagne. All crack 40 points and become statistically the 2nd scoring line for the Flames.
- Kylington steps up and makes Brodie expendable. Brodie is moved by Christmas for futures.
- Andersson and Giordano become the best defensive pair in the NHL, with Andersson carrying an equal load of the responsibility.
- Hamonic has a great year and surprises everyone by signing a team friendly long-term contract.
- Calgary Flames make it to the Stanley Cup finals, losing to the Cinderella New Jersey Devils.
- Speaking of Cinderella, the clock strikes 12 and the Colorado Avalanche fall apart, being well out of the post season by Christmas.
- Edmonton sucks again and McDavid forces a block-buster trade with Toronto before the start of 2020-21.

Hot Take for 2020-21

- Austin Matthews doesn't like Edmonton and plays his way off the team, forcing a trade to Arizona. Edmonton blows the five first round picks they get from Toronto while trying to speed up their rebuild. NHL records for jersey tossing in a single game and single season takes place in Shelbyville.

Now that Neal is traded, Frolik would actively try to block any trades out of Calgary using his 10 team ntc.

This would be awesome, because it is one of the pieces that would need to fall into place to see the line of Tkachuk - Bennett - Lindholm that I desperately want to see.

With a shutdown line of Mangiapane - Backlund - Ryan, or Frolik - Backlund - Ryan with Mangiapane playing with Janko but I want Mang to have a higher role than fourth line.

The Flames will lose game 1 and everyone will act like the season is over.

This is probably closer to fact than hot take. They always lose game 1
