Kevin Fiege out as producer for the Spider-Man films. I believe they will do 2 more movies with Holland but won't crossover with the MCU anymore.

I thought he was going to be a large part of the next Avengers chapter.

Matrix 4 is officially a go. Not sure how to feel about it even with Keanu's recent rebirth.

The Wachowski's haven't directed a good movie since well the first Matrix imo.

Wow...Judging from that article, it sounds like Sony was the one that walked away from negotiations. Does Sony really want to do this? They had ONE legitimate hit in Venom outside of the MCU Spiderman movies in the last 5 years. And yes, Spiderman into the spiderverse was a critically acclaimed success, but it was only a moderate box office hit (making $375mil with a $90mil budget, not including advertising cost that probably came close to another $90mil).

I guess they're really confident on Venom 2 and villains like Kraven the hunter.

The first Matrix movie was amazing and ground breaking and new. The next two matrix movies were boring, over explained anything, were intentionally twisty, and just not very good.

Why do we need a 4th one?

I think I predicted Sony would take Spider-Man back after Venom made $800million last year.

Quote:
Definitely -- I don't think anyone outside the studios knows the full extent of the deal, but I would bet after this current set of movies releases (Avengers/Far From Home) they'll push hard to get Spider-Man back into the Sony universe to showdown with Venom and whoever else.
Nailed it.

Sony is trying to force Venom into Spider-Man 3? Well, I never.

Wow they're finally making a sequel for The Matrix?

Jupiter Ascending is one of my favourite films. "Bees recognize royalty" gets me every time.

Weren't they involved in V for Vendetta? That film was amazing

*Directed, I think they worked on V, but only as producers I believe. Some people love Cloud Atlas, but I couldn't get into it.

They can be hit and miss.

The Matrix was undeniably awesome, the other two were awful, V for Vendetta was awesome whereas Speed Racer and Jupiter Ascending were unwatchable trash.

Speed Racer is probably the most faithful live action anime adaptation ever. Gotta give it some props for that.

Disney is asking for a 50% funding and profits arrangements. You can only put out so many solo Spiderman films, so the opportunity cost of only getting 50% is huge.

Sony can also take advantage of all of the good will that Disney has built up with Tom Holland, and bleed that dry. Good deal for them.

You also have to factor in the bump to other movies for having Spiderman appear in their films. Plus Tony Stark is no longer in the MCU, and he was Spiderman's main connection to it.

I'm going to assume that's the initial negotiation figure that's subject to change if Sony is willing to go back and forth with disney. The initial 5% is ridiculous when kevin feige did all the legwork to build that universe. So I was expecting Sony to counter with something, but that article just makes it sound like Sony didn't even try, or maybe this leak was all part of Sonys plan to get some exposure to the situation. If that's the case it's kind of backfiring since Sony is trending right now in a negative way.
