Salmon Rushdie attacked in Buffalo
Not a lot of information beyond he was stabbed, and the attacker was restrained.

ushdie's book "The Satanic Verses" has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous. A year later, Iran's late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, calling for Rushdie's death. A bounty of over US$3 million has also been offered for anyone who kills Rushdie.
Iran's government has long since distanced itself from Khomeini's decree, but anti-Rushdie sentiment lingered. In 2012, a semi-official Iranian religious foundation raised the bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to $3.3 million.

He walked off stage on his own, so that's a hopeful sign.

He changed his name to Salmon to try to evade the fatwa. Very sneaky.

An Iranian national was also arrested outside Masih Alinejad's home with an AR-15 a couple weeks ago. There was also a foiled kidnapping plot against her a year or two ago. She's a Iranian activist living in Brooklyn that's extremely critical of the regime.

Hmm Strange... I wonder what could have happened in the last couple of years that would lead Iran(ians) to start targeting opponents on US Soil...

This isn't a new thing. Iran has been hunting down dissidents with assassination plots for years.

Condition is unknown at present, but apparently he was stabbed in the neck.

They've been after him for over 30 years. The fatwa was put on him in 1989, but yeah I guess this is Trump's fault.

Not only words, cartoons and drawings set these lunatics off. Religion, so harmful and toxic, utterly foolish to believe in such nonsense.

If I had one wish for mankind, high on the list would be there was no religion.
That would negate the need for so many other wishes.

Some other ideology would replace it. Tribalism is inherent

Me too. Also love Satanic Verses and Haroun and the Sea of Stories.
I love magical realism though.

Ventilator and might lose an eye, as well as some liver damage is what I saw. I think that was from Bloomberg, so a reputable source.
