Is Nick going to bagel Rublev?
Edit: 6-3 6-0 in a little over 50 minutes (51 to be exact)

Next up for Nick is Fognini which could be fireworks.

is Bweh even recovered from mutilating his hand last week? either way, surprisingly businesslike for a Nicky match.

Had to throw in the underhand serve at 5-0 40-love though lol and made things a little more complicated than they needed to be.

On the women's side, Sakkari lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil. My goodness, the seeds continue to drop in Miami.

Felix is on court versus Kecmanovic as I type. On serve in the opening set.

Felix just broke himself (a combination of bad shots and bad luck).

Felix drops the first set 6-4 and is broken at love to start set 2. Have to give credit to Kecmanovic, he's playing well and winning all the big points.

Felix is going to have a short stay in Miami as Kecmanovic is rolling. His level just hasn't dropped and FAA is broken again.

Well, Kecmanovic might as well go on and win the whole damn tournament now because if he loses his next match, I'm going to be a little miffed. Tough one for Felix today, I thought he played quite well, not outstanding, but his opponent today was practically untouchable.

Shapo playing terrible and drops the first set 6-3 to Harris. Lloyd isn't doing anything special, just waiting for Denis to shank a ball way wide or into the net.

You know, I remember six months ago when it seemed like it might be a good time to be a Canadian tennis fan.

lol - Just a rough patch the last couple of weeks. The thing is we're going into clay season which historically is not great for Canadian tennis.

Leylah clearly isn't ready to take the step she took at US Open, which is fine, but disappointing. Felix has kind of stalled since a great summer and has really just not showed up the last while. Shapo looks like he pretty much is who he is at this point. And Bianca is... somewhere not playing tennis apparently.
Kind of annoying to have four really promising young talents going and suddenly none of them are really worth tuning in for.

And in totally unexpected fashion, Shapo double faults to give Harris the match. Yeesh, that was not good from Denis but at least he can go out and sing some 'Night Train' at a trendy Miami night club now.

Why can’t we have nice things as Canadian tennis fans?

Well, 2022 got off to a great start. Canada won the ATP Cup, Felix got his first career ATP title and got to a final the very next week, Leylah defended her title in Monterrey. The bar has certainly been raised though and these Masters 1000 events get a lot of attention and the results for Canadian tennis were disappointing.

JJ Wolf lost to Greek Yogurt, but pulled off this beauty of a shot.
