Sweet. I bought four for my space monorail maybe 18 months-two years ago, but the yellowed wear was too contrasting with the grey base plates I had and it looked bad. I certainly didn't pay a buck.
You can fix yellowed Lego with the retrobrite process!
Immerse in hydrogen peroxide and expose to UV lighting in a closed boxed with reflective tin foil. Or you can leave it in the sun.
I wonder if the companies that make car models are losing money to Lego. I find it funny how I'll happily drop $200 for something that this when a model that actually looks accurate sells for a fraction of the price.

Hard to say without sales stats. My gut feel is it's mostly obsesed people who buy these, I have half a dozen 69 diecasts and model kits on my shelf already, so it's not taking much away.
The model industry saw an uptick during covid, not sure how long that will last but it was nice to see.

Model-making is more of an illness than a hobby (I say this as a fully-infected builder), so the guys who build car models will continue to buy car models. And probably the Lego, too.

I just found out there was a line of Lego from the 2008 Speed Racer movie, and I don't know where I was or what I was doing in (or since) 2008 to have missed this, but I'm now on a mission to track down a Mach 5!
It always amazes me what you can do on the mechanical side. I think Technic requires the use of a different part of your brain than regular Lego, and I've just never been able to figure anything out myself.

I decided to change the roads on my modular Lego street to include segregated bike lanes. It's been about two weeks since I decided to do it, and I've mostly just been tinkering with the design so I know exactly which parts/quantities I need to order.
The original plan was to use white tiles cause I have a ton of them from when they were on the brick wall at the Lego store. But last week they had the sand brown ones, and I like the look better - so I scooped some up.
Not sure if I need those yellow barrels full of...(what are they full of anyway??) on low speed canyon streets, but I haven't found a better way to include the street lights, so I'm probably gonna roll with it.

I'm sitting here watching my 4-year-old niece disassemble my lego setup like Godzilla but with snot-covered hands so she can build a unicorn, and I fortuitously discovered 1700 piece Lego boxes on on sale today and tomorrow at Costco for $47.99, and $54.99 online https://www.costco.ca/lego-classic-s...100987721.html
Does LEGO still do double VIP points? Haven’t seen that in a while
They do down here at least. Its been a few months but they still happen. I think I got double points in April-ish and then they had another since then. Not sure if all of NA gets them or its country specific or even worldwide.

Recent price increases have been breathtaking. It’s become easily my most expensive hobby with the family.
I have been buying the LEGO advent calendars for the past several years and have enjoyed them but noticed this year the themed calendars are $60. At that price I'll probably pass - can get them cheaper at Costco but still it's almost a matter of principle for me now.
