the scooters kind of look like fun - in some ways i want to come downtown on the weekend and try one.

e-bikes are annoying to me, becasue when you are hammering it, they just come up pass you like you are standing still - i guess it just annoys me that i am spinning my brains out and they cruise right on by with the rider exerting no effort

please excuse me as i am going to go and yell at clouds now

Scooters are fun for sure... but not the lime ones. Speed capped at 20, lame. I bought my kid a gotrax GXL (2 speed modes, can keep the 8 year old from ripping) for her bday and I have a Qiewa 800W scooter. These are fun.

The only problem I have is if they give me no warning. Use your bell or voice or something, don't just buzz past.

My record going up Lynwood Mur is 40s on my eBike (I only ever really use the assist on hills - 3 speed sucks for hills - or when I've got a nasty headwind or my legs are gone) and I did the hill in 43s on my regular bike. The electric assist is an enabler and removes a lot of barriers to riding and riding longer.

worth and I went out this morning to tackle an imperial century. The only one I'd done was at the Badlands Gran Fondo and it was worth's first. Of course we picked the hottest day of the year to do it. Wind was pretty much perfect though. I need to work on ride nutrition more as I cramped up a bit at the end.

171km and only 850m of elevation. East of the city is flat, flat, flat. All and all, a good morning away from the computer.

wife needed the car today so i decided to commute by bike for the first time at this job

no idea why it took me 3 years. its pretty short too at 25k. i also didnt know we had a shower at work so i tried to pace myself so that i wouldn't get all sweaty, so each subsequent ride will be a really good workout

Finally managed to get out on the high Rockies trail today. Went from peninsula/Kent creek to a little past sawmill for a 32k out and back.

I was trying to get to 25k before I turned around, but my watch said 11 and I was getting tired. When I got back to my vehicle it dawned on me I had set my watch to miles earlier this week when I golfed. Made me happy I got my miles in.

Solid ride. Reminds me a lot of lazy lizard in fernie. Riding across the suspension bridge is weird/freaky and fun.

Will repeat

Another day another sample of the high Rockies trail. This time the wife and I went from goat creek to driftwood and back - 30k round trip. There is some great single track from the spray lakes dame to driftwood.

Not a scenic as my ride yesterday, but a great ride for someone like my wife who is a lukewarm mtn biker.

Tomorrow I am going to bragg for only the third time this year.

Sampled a bunch of the Single track down in Crowsnest Pass. Buck 50 could be my favourite trail in Alberta. The area is fantastic, well worth a weekend trip!

Just finished supporting a team in the Transrockies classic. 558.7km and 13,370m of climbing. Freaking insane.

Did that route in 2008, the most fun I've ever had on a bike. Also the most exhausted I've ever been. My Dad was our support, stayed off the ground in a motorhome all week, he cooked supper and breakfast, had an absolute blast.

If you have a chance, do a week long race, you won't regret it. It ain't cheap, but it's so rewarding.

He can be a bit surly if you didn't purchase the bike there. "He only works on bikes that he has sold"

I live in Inglewood and just hop on over to Bike and Brew in Bridgeland. Those guys are beauties.

I've heard the same. He's super passionate about bikes and the cycling community but can be a bit elitist/particular about it.

Bike and Brew are claiming next day service on repairs/tune-ups. At least they were in an Instagram story over the weekend.

Bike and Brew is closer to me, I took my bike there to get my spoke replaced. Quick turnaround given I dropped it off the night before and they were done about an hour after opening.

I last rode the Bow River Pathway downtown July 22nd in the early afternoon and after meeting a constant swarm of speeding, swerving into my lane, reckless “Deer in the Headlight” eScooter riders it was enough to do what the recent Speed Limit Enforcement program couldn’t do......it has stopped me from riding the Path system near downtown again....at least until “tourist season is over”. Fortunately I don’t have to commute anymore so I have a choice not to subject myself to the risk of getting up close and personal with one of these green missiles.....piloted mostly by what appears to be completely inexperienced rider who gets rattled by normal cycling activity.
I consistently road cycle close to 10,000kms a year (confirmed by Strava) so I don’t consider myself a “rookie” or inexperienced rider. I feel sorry for any fellow CP’rs that have to commute......
