That model is epic, but I'm still on team "The Roci lands horizontally".

That wouldn't make sense. The ship is oriented vertically to allow for "ship gravity."

It'd be kinda weird picnicking on top of Holden's coffee machine or Prax's garden walls.

Oh man am I going to have to pull the book out and find where they explain how it all works? It's not elegant, but remember seating wise the crash couches can orient to any direction so the ship landing on it's side is no big deal. Also the elevator is located differently in the books, so it actually becomes a hallway. Like I said, not elegant but gets the job done.

Gravity is a Real Bitch: Hard Science Fiction in 'The Expanse'
https://filmschoolrejects.com/the-expanse/
Quote:
Ships, on the other hand, are designed like high-rise buildings to take advantage of thrust gravity; aerodynamics are mostly irrelevant in the resistance-free vacuum of space. Imagine the basement of the high-rise is the engine. The thrust that it creates pushes the ship forward, and anything loose within the ship (including people) would be “pulled” down onto the floors in a semblance of gravity. The faster the ship accelerates, the heavier the gravity there is.

If you’re accelerating at a fast enough rate to produce a constant 1 g, then sure, you’ll be able to create artificial, Earth-like gravity. From Earth’s frame of reference, if you’re accelerating at a constant rate of 1 g, then you’d reach near the speed of light in about a year, having covered about 0.5 light-years in distance.

irony is that the film Gravity is probably one of the worst attempts at actually depicting gravity, as far as hard sci-fi goes.

Gee, we'll be at 9 books?
Years ago I stopped at Abaddon's Gate and only because I struggle to find the time and focus to read novels. But I want to finish this one as I love the show!

What exactly was that thing at the end? I don’t remember that all from the series.
Also the last book has a release date of Nov 30 now.

Hmmm. I’ve read all The books and I don’t remember. Unless it’s alluding to stuff from the last book (Tiamats)??

It's from the novella Strange Dogs. Read it before Tiamat's Wrath if you haven't started that yet!

It's been a long time since I read the book, but that's probably the Timothy thing isn't it?
