Can y'all say "yeastmode" over and over in your heads for a few minutes, realize how bad it is, and then save us all from ever having to read it again.

Thanks!

Take note future RFAs within the Flames organization. If Treliving thinks he's given you a fair offer, he's not gonna budge much. Especially if you are a player with minimal NHL experience.

Don't test him. He's a tough negotiator, especially when he has leverage.

Winter was basically playing poker with his cards backwards and kept yelling 'Go Fish!'

I just said yeast mode over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over in my head. I love it.

Great nick name.

I think Darren Haynes has earned enough cred.

Spoiler!

...sent two hours after the player signs a barely league-minimum contract.
Weird as I read that article yesterday.

Agreed. I like Haynes a lot, but he came off as very biased towards Mangiapane in that piece.

He should definitely fire his agent. Probably could've gotten a one-way deal LOL

Yeah, it was posted yesterday. They obviously scheduled to retweet it today and didn't unschedule it (or re-write the tweet) after the signing was announced.

At least Haynes has a good sense of humour about it.

Are there any other teams than the oilers or leafs that are giving rfa's contracts that are comparable to the best ufa's at their time of signing? I am genuinely curious as I do agree these teams recent rfa signings have driven the market up but off the top of my head the rest of the league seem to be still signing rfa's for a reasonable discount given their rfa status. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like two teams are skewing the rfa market and I think that was the initial point that those two teams have had (still have) bad gms.

I think we needs to see what contracts the rest of the premium RFA’s sign.

Basically it’s been Marner, Aho and then some d-men who were not expected to get huge money.

I am not sure if this signing tells us much about what RFA’s can expect.

It tells us that the Flames have a fiscally responsible manager.

But not all cash-strapped teams are good.

See: Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.

Perhaps GMBT held his line knowing he only had a limited cap room, and was comfortable letting AM sit, rather than limit his space further for MT... probably told him such! If you only have space for one of them, which are you more comfortable missing?

AM saw the writing on the wall, and realized his only chance was to sign the QO! This sets him up to be a go to guy for filling out he roster.
