Features a post from a friend of the song's creator: "The fan got a call from the NHL asking us to pull it... I guess the Oilers are upset by it LoL."
Also there's a link to an Oilers-Nation article where someone who worked at the Edmonton station received the official complaint:
Quote:
While Jason Gregor and I were on the air today, we played the song and had a good laugh over it. Hey, if the Flames got lit up that bad and somebody here came up with a parody that slick, I'd laugh at it, too.
Not long after, we got a call from producer Will Fraser at TEAM 1260 and he told us Allan Watt, the Oilers vice-president of communications and broadcast, had phoned to complain and that he'd also contacted several other stations demanding they not play it.
Also several posts about Rob Kerr confirming on the air that Edmonton complained and forced them to stop playing it / take it down.

Would not surprise me is the oilers got the nhl to intervene like they did for the goala song.
Needs to be posted.

Can’t imagine the people who donated to the go fund me are pumped with that.
The donations to Go Fund Me were going towards ALS research. The guy who started it said that if he didn't reach his goal then he would donate to ALS. CJay 92 stepped in and said they should give it all to ALS anyway and that CJay would take care of the ad. After that the donations to GoFundMe increased. Last I saw they passed $25000 in donations for ALS.

Right my point was people donated to put tkachaks face on a billboard in Edmonton. Then the radio station stepped in and now there’s no face on the billboard. The people who donated to the original go fund me were doing it to put tkacheks face up.

Dont forget the time they hired a SpinDoctor agency to pose as posters on HF and pump the Oilers' tires.
They actually paid good money for that whereas whining like an infant with diarrhea to radio stations whilst simultaneously stamping your feet and pounding your fists like an insane toddler is relatively inexpensive.

Doesn't matter how they feel about how the billboard looks. Their money didn't go towards the ad.
Their money went to ALS and they knew it could wind up there.
I’m willing to bet CJAY didn’t have permission to use Tkachuk’s face from the Flames and legally couldn’t. That’s too bad, but considering they couldn’t I think they did an okay job.
Not nearly as good as just a billboard of his face with no words though.

In Northlands Coliseum , up in the top corners there was/is old scoreboards that would show out of town scores. In between scores there would be ads. One of the ads was for literacy and boasted the slogan "Reading, give it a Shot!!". While this may be a clever way to promote literacy at a hockey game, I always laughed about how they thought their illiterate crowd was going to read the ad....
Wrong thread, but E=NG

I agree. It would have been much better, though, had they used the "Rat King" image from Brady's t-shirt.

Do people still do those oversized head cutouts at games? It'd be hilarious to see them at the game in Edmonton of Chucky just in the face of all the Oiler fans.
