https://twitter.com/user/status/1526570975369699328
#Flames forward Elias Lindholm is a finalist for the Selke Trophy. He’s joined by Boston’s Patrice Bergeron and Florida’s Aleksander Barkov.

Impossible, Oilers fans have told me the Flames have no elite two way forwards.
Congrats Lindholm, you really earned this.

That is as it should be. If he wasn't one of the top 3, it would have been a travesty

They're going to need to re-name it the Bergeron trophy especially if this is indeed his last year, but love the rest of the top 3 and can't argue with that. Congrats Lindy

Congrats to Elias. VERY well deserved, and pretty good company as well. Boy that 2013 draft was good at the top.

I believe in the Jays.

Good for him... I mean Bergeron is going to win it (as well he should... that guy was bonkers this year) but it's nice to see him get the recognition.

easiest top 3 among all the trophies (well, next to the Vezina maybe). Can probably find arguments for any of the three. Go Elias obviously.

A lot of media have been on the Lindholm being a contender wagon for the last few months. It does feel like Bergeron is gonna take it once again.

I've watched hardly any Boston hockey, but everyone says Bergeron is running away with it again. Fair enough.
But Lindy's season has been insane. People do not score goals against us when he is on the ice.

In terms of percentile ranking for a lot of these possession based stats, such as xGF%, CF%, HDCF%, Elias is definitely up there, like top 5 usually. But Bergeron is at 1.
It's commendable that he's had a season to be included in the same conversation as Bergeron, who had honestly one of his best all-time defensive seasons of his career.

That's some pretty great company Lindholm is in. Says a lot about his game and how he plays.

And yet the Flames don't have an elite #1 Center. Bravo Lindy, well deserved to be among the best.

Mini-rant: this award should ignore points. It should reward defensive specialists. The ones who get minimal offensive zone starts, who match up against other team top lines and play on their teams top PK.
Would love to see more recognition for guys like Jordan Staal, Joel Eriksson Ek, Clutterbuck/Cizikas.
I would argue that Backlund is more deserving than Lindholm, given their deployment. Bergeron is a beast, but it's Coyle/Frederic who gets the majority of the defensive draws and tough assignments in Boston these days.

A forward is still a forward and needs to put up points. I would not ignore point production in Selke selection

IMO Lindholm is a more steady player. Backlund's game varies during the season from great to terrible.

Lindholm is way more steady than Backlund. Agree with other poster, Backlund disappears for way too long in the regular season. Now if it was game 7 vs Dallas Backlund there might be an argument. Lindholm is just about the perfect hockey player.

And we're long overdue for the Bobby Orr award (best offensive defenceman), making the Norris less about points and more about overall ability.

Backlunds role on the team is to match up against the tough competition. To take the majority of the defensive draws. To PK. Those are the players that I want this award to recognize.
