Steve Dangle is great for hockey. He's the kind of fan you want for your team, plus he loves Calgary as well from 2004. Don't be like that.

While I think it was a mistake to announce so early that there will not be changes to the coach or GM spots, I agree with the decision as I'm a supporter of stability and giving management time over making changes just because. But certainly, Shanahan should have said they were going to take their time to do a top to bottom evaluation before announcing anything. Doesn't look good that they've decided 2 days after being eliminated.
Meh They may have lost to Tampa, but they lost to a Tampa team that was at least beatable. I mean, I actually read an argument that Campbell got a good grade because he had the same save pct as Vasilevsky. It was under ..900, but it was the same as Vasilevsky!
The Leafs make changes every summer, but they're fringe changes for the most part, because they can't afford to do more. And you could make an argument that Keefe has been out-coached in every series.
Washington kept throwing Ovechkin, Backstrom, et al, but they had to add some more core pieces such as Oshie before breaking through.
I mean, there are people arguing that Tampa Bay gave Hedman and company multiple years before they won their first Cup. But they actually won rounds while they were giving them chances. Same with Washington.

i would think the one change they would like to make would be to trade tavares; however, given his salary and NTC/NMC that seems very unlikely.
what other changes are you really going to make. Who else is a better coach? who is a better GM? What line up changes can you make when you have 3 guys taking up $30 million of payroll?
Of the last 7 games they lost 4 and Tampa lost 3. the LEafs came back in one game where it looked like they were going to get run over.

Why would you believe that’s a change they want to make? He was in beats mode most of the first round, team rallied behind a goal he scored, captain, took a discount to sign there, etc…. Between how expensive he is, and how big of a part of the team he is, he’s retiring there.
I’m not sure if you’re being facetious with the “who’s a better coach” “who’s a better GM”. I assume you are though… those are obvious fixes.

All Toronto based pundits scratching their head how the greatest team ever assembled loses yet again.
Then the fans. They are the worst, along with Oiler fans. I hope they lose every game for the next 100 years.
I used to say I would watch every Leaf game if they were to go 0-82, but I think there's a lot more entertainment value in the Leafs continuing to dominate in the regular season, and then finding new and creative way to blow it in the first round.
They win the next 5 President's Trophies, but never play a second round game....sign me up for that.

yes, tavares played well in teh playoffs - but at the end of the day he is making about $11m and was #4 in team scoring in the regular season. I was thinking that if you could deal him for two or three guys (I don't have any names for this trade) that perhaps you could bring something different to the team.
if you were going to replace keefe and dubas who would you bring in? to me the only real obvious upgrade on a coach might be Trotz. The other big coaching names (babcock and Maurice) have already had a spin in TO.
As for a GM - once again, what experienced GM's are out there? would the leafs want to go with a rookie GM like say Conroy?
And I should state for the record I dislike the Leafs as much as the next fella. I just don't think they need to make a ton of changes.

That forward corps looks very thin if you take Tavares out of it, particularly in a division with Florida and Tampa. I still think Nylander is the forward to trade if they are trying to shake things up. However, I don’t know of how much return they would get for him that would be worth trading him.
