Here's a Star Trek rarity. Obviously the artists hadn't watched much Trek before hitting the drawing board:

I just noticed this last night too! Found they're re-airing the 2nd episode so recording that, but unfortunately doesn't look like the first episode is re-airing or available on demand though. Guess I'll put on my eye patch and peg leg to find that one.

So as someone who gave up on Discovery after S1, I'm assuming Pike seeing his future death was explained on that show. Is it worth slogging through S2 of Discovery for the full backstory? Or at least the few episodes with Pike?

Pike is interspersed throughout, but I believe that was in the last few episodes. I thought season 2 was okay though. Owing a lot to Pike’s character, actually.

Pike was the only redeeming quality of season 2.

I think you could just read this and save yourself the time and agony.

I seem to recall Paramount + had a free trial offer floating about as well. Maybe it was from Xbox Gamepass?

That’s what is surprising for me. Is it the actor or what? How can they write well for one character but really fall flat for the rest of the cast? Does Mount have something in his contract that lets him rewrite scenes or something?

I dont know, but he is perfect.

As a character, a Starfleet Officer, for whatever reason Mount is absolutely killing it.

I might be biased because I actually ran into him years ago when he was in town filming 'Hell of Wheels' which I also really liked.

But Mount as Pike? Its perfect.

He seems extremely likeable from everything that have heard as well.

I ran into him and Common and they were both really nice guys.

The thing about Mount is he could be a secret agent. Give him a hat and a coat and he's basically unrecognizable.

Mount has also said he grew up as a genuine fan of Star Trek so he knows how a classic captain should act and carry himself.

Weekend of the TNG reunion at Comic Expo I bumped into Colm Meaney shopping at Club Monaco at the core. I didn't ask why he wasn't invited the panel but he was obviously living here while filming Hell on Wheels.

Right! Meaney was also on that show!

They should do a reverse 'Relics' and have Meaney get onto SNW from the future is a really good 'O'Brien Must Suffer' episode....

Enjoyed the 3rd episode. Definitely had that “ one & done “ feel. Which is what I’m really looking for.

But its that "one & done" with Character growth that we're looking for.

The whole point of Star Trek was to create a group and an atmosphere that makes it feel like we're going along for the adventures.

That episode was fantastic!

I'm really liking the Engineer. I mean its rare that you see aholes in the future, but he's clearly one of them.

They need to develop that more. Not give a backstory on why he's an ahole, but just you know make him an increasing ahole.
