The editorial was that they wouldnt have the logo at center ice.
The quote from the Athletic does not say that.

Went to a game in probably 2012ish in Glendale. 4 tickets on a mid-week game (Thursday I think) for the Flames, all you could eat food (hotdogs, popcorn, etc.) and all you could drink soft drinks (I had to pay extra for a beer). Took the wife and kids, all in was about $70.
As an aside, the Flames management was awesome. Emailed them randomly when I realized the Flames would be in town while we were on a quick December vacation to see if we could get in to see a practice maybe. Peter Hanlon emailed back and arranged for us to go in and watch the practice, then brought us down to just outside the dressing room as the practice was ended and the entire Flames team was lined up coming off the ice to sign my two kids jerseys. Son got a David Moss stick.
Will never forget the look on his face as he met all his heroes - he was probably 6 or 7 at the time playing TimBits.
Back to the original post, these prices are a joke and the Coyotes will probably be playing in front of 20 fans.

Why do people think the ASU logo is going to remain exactly where and as it is? There's this wonderful new invention called ‘paint’. You all should Google it some time.
|
So instead of one 25 foot diameter logo you get one of two ~10 foot diameter logos. It's actually a pretty significant difference.

The claim being made was that the Coyotes would not be allowed to have their logo on the ice AT ALL. That claim was false, and no amount of verbal gymnastics will save it.
|
Please cite that claim. From a journalist, not a tweeter who jumped to an incorrect conclusion.

The ASU logo can't be electronically altered during the broadcasts, which is exactly what the story on The Athletic says.

The Tempe City Council is expected to approve formal negotiations with the Coyotes this Thursday June 2nd which would lead the way to a possible future approval of the project itself.

So this is the first I've paid attention to how they propose to pay for this arena.
Looks like they are asking for the city to donate the land and pay for remediation and some other things that amount to $200 million.

I'm not disagreeing.
But in this instance, wouldn't all 31 other owners have to vote to move the club elsewhere, as well as have another owner already lined up?
Is this really Gary or the owner doing?

In unrelated news - the Quebec Remparts drew 14,563 to a junior hockey playoff game yesterday.

i often wonder if this franhise could ahve gain a better market foothold with a propeorly located arena in the first place and maybe having a somewhat competitive team.
alternatively, i wonder if Jim B would have had a different approach - where would the team be.
oh what could have been.

Pretty sure they had a 30 year non-relocation agreement in Glendale too.

New renders look a lot like the saddledome and T-Mobile in Vegas.

I think they just plan to move it. So I guess it only needs to be done if someone wants to develop this land.
Coyotes claim they are kicking in $1.7 billion. We'll see if Tempe agrees that their costs are only $200 million as this does have the smell of Calgary Next to it. How much other infrastructure spending will be required?
