Eerily similar to Gio's season ending injury in our '14/15 run... hopefully not out too long

Good thing we never traded either of Rittich or Gillies.

I know it's silly and doesn't mean it still wouldn't occur in the future but you can't help but wonder if Frolik buries the empty netter the injury doesn't happen.

Hope he isn't out for long but it sure didn't look good. Such a huge win for the team and Hamonic and its tarnished with this.

Frigg sakes

Edit: after reading some of the other posts in the PGT I wanted to be clear I'm not blaming Frolik, just saying you can't help but wonder.

Hopefully it's just tweaked and he needs a few days rest. If he's not close to 100% bring up Gillies and give him a few days off skates.

Well you all wanted to know what would happen after Smith's contract was up? Looks like we're about to find out.

can live with 5 games being out I figure, any more than that and thats where things get iffy. Of course Rittich OR Gillies to turn into Kipper 2.0 as well and all is good again in the universe. Either way, time to step up.

Smith seen walking on his own after the game, as per SN.

Hope Smith is ok. It looked terrible, hopefully him not putting any weight on it was precautionary. Luckily it's the first time in forever I'm not nervous to put a heavier load on our backup goalie. Rittich will step up to the plate if he is indeed called upon.

He’s old and has played a ton. A groin pull seems very unsurprising, if anything. Hope it’s not major.

I’m obviously not happy Smith is potentially injured, but unlike past years, have a ton of faith in our backup right now. Unfortunate, but I think the team will rally around this.

It seems he's been battling these issues for a while now. I realize every game is important down the stretch but it's going to be a huge blow if he's not available for games in March. Maybe Rittich should play a little more for the next while than just back to backs so Smith can try to heal up a bit.

I think the injury could be attributed to the fact that Smith had very little activity in the 3rd and was likely very cold. Apparently he was seen walking in the locker room as per Jason York from the broadcast tonight, so hopefully nothing serious.

Exactly what I was thinking. Give Rittich two or three games in a row and let Smith rest and heal up, provided his injury isn't that serious.

On Sportsnet, they said that Smith was seen walking around on his own after the game.

What you just heard was silence, followed by the collective groins of CP.

That’s got to be a good sign right? If it was the knee and the way he went off I expected him to be crutches.
