I think it'll be better on the spots you usually ride, but anywhere where the wind has a good shot at it it's a mess.

Did a partial ride in this morning. Drove to the bird sanctuary and rode in from there. Only 6 km but I'll also do the return trip after work. Studded tires from MEC really help with traction and confidence. Thanks to all you guys who ride in far worse conditions for posting here- your subtle pushing has encouraged me to do some of this winter riding.

I'm assuming Fox Hollow hill is going to be a drift nightmare. It was last year a few times after strong west winds with snow still on the ground. Thing is I doubt city contractors come out today/tomorrow to clear unless 311 requests get logged.

Fox hollow had a little bit of drifting this morning leading up to the bridge, but nothing too bad. Could be much worse by end of day. I was pleasantly surprised with pathway conditions this morning. Everything on my commute has been cleared. It was almost shorts weather out there.

Yup they did a good job clearing Nose Creek and Fox Hollow for the ride home yesterday, I did log a couple of 311 requests right away after my morning ride in.

I have ridden into that kind of wind before, just slow down and go for it. Try not to think about it either!

That dusting of snow overnight sure makes the pathways look pretty, it also hides all the ice underneath. Use some caution today especially if riding where you haven't in the last couple of days.

ALL ABOARD!

It was announced today that the Tour of Alberta has been cancelled. Blaming funding/economy.
Sucks that we couldn’t see it come through Calgary. Last year they had part of the Edmonton route open to the public so they could “race” through the city without cars. Would have been a lot of fun.

^ my only thought is that all of those bikes have drop bars, and given you want to cruise around town, and commute, I was thinking that you might want to consider something with a flat bar

Don't listen to Northendzone. Drop bars are great. They're comfortable for commuting and cruising and if you want to have some fun on the weekend's you've got the option to get low.
I think the Masi's look great. Though they're all pretty comparable. The Specialized is a step up but so is the price. Real steel is nice.
All those are available at different shops around town. The closeness of the shop might make a difference or if you have an existing relationship with the shop.
Bike & Brew have Masi. Bow Cycle has the Kona. Calgary Cycle has the Salsa and Bike Shop has the Specialized.

Go talk to Sean at bike bike. He will get you set straight. Really nice guy and the commuter bicycle is their bread and butter.

Mine is "black and blue" in colour. I have 30mm Schwalbe CX tires mounted now but the frame will accept up to 38mm.
I'd be willing to part with it for 500.00.
