Funny, I just joked with my wife how someone on the community FB group page here already posted about this. HAWCS flies around here often. At least once or twice a month, but usually during the day though.
It could very well be something serious, as people are saying it's circling the YMCA area (also close to the remand and juvie centre), or it could be thermal imaging and them looking for grow ops. They train lots up here, apparently.
I'm in RR but it looks like they're flying more around Nolan Hill from my vantage point.

You'd be surprised by how many people complain about HAWCS flying around.

Nope. I truly wouldn't. We moved to Rocky Ridge from downtown 7 years ago. After hearing helicopters almost daily while downtown, the peace and quiet was welcomed. Then it was almost too quiet and the bi-weekly arrival of a helicopter was almost a treat. Then we joined a community FB page where bored housewives will make posts asking about why there's a cop car at the end of their street, if anyone know where the sirens are coming from, or why hawcs has been flying overhead to 30 seconds.
Someone will post a "why is this hawcs/police near us?" and there will be dozens of comments below from concerned neighbors who are "following".
It's become a countdown game for my wife and I, as we'll refresh that group page constantly each time we hear the blade overhead, waiting to see how long it takes for someone to post and ask "why" it's there.
Tonight, it took about 4 minutes for that post to arrive. There was actually 2 separate posts. The OP here at least waited 30 minutes, which is indeed an unusually longer time for them to be flying aorund. After that long, I get curious myself. I've checked CPS on Twitter, but no-one has asked. I'm still going to guess thermal heat tracing though. Nolan Hill, from what I've heard, is now the grow-op hub of the City. That was 9 months ago though when I was told.

Hah. I bet. I've never bothered much with community FB pages. But some of the phoned in complaints are pretty good. I think the best one so far was, while there were two major events in the next community over, someone calling in and asking "What the timeline was for getting that helicopter out of the air, since the ground units should be able to take care of it." ending with "I don't see why I have to suffer because someone somewhere else can't get their sh** together."

I'm in Royal Oak and it is common to hear them flying over. The conspiracy theorist in me always wonders if its because someone escaped from the remand centre.

Well, you've got the Remand Center, the Correctional Centre, Young Offender Centre, and the Spyhill Dump hidden behind the facade of a Walmart. I'm surprised the whole community hasn't burnt to the ground already.

Don’t forget the six different gravel pits, and the Forensic Psychiatry Center.
