Ya that trailer isn't doing it for me either. According to this article about Jurassic Park sequels that were never made this was actually considered:
"You may already know that Sayles' leaked draft was rather crazy. It began with Hammond sending a new character called Nick Harris ("an unemployed soldier of fortune") to Isla Nublar (now under the control of a Swiss company) to retrieve the shaving foam can stuffed with DNA samples that Dennis Nedry dropped way back in the first film.
Nick is caught, knocked out, and wakes up in a medieval castle in the Swiss Alps where the new owners of Isla Nublar are working on a hybrid dinosaur consisting of human, canine, and dino DNA. Nick is recruited by the Swiss scientists to act as a drill sargeant to a pack of dinosaurs that they've managed to tame using radio signals.Nick's dinos are put in armored suits and sent to Tangier to rescue a 10-year-old girl from some terrorists. The mission is a bloody success, and Nick is next sent after a drug lord who is promptly attacked by dinosaurs while in his jacuzzi. At the climax of the film, the dino-soldiers turn on their Swiss masters."
So at least this looks a little better than that lol
We flash forward another 30 years, the Dinosaurs have been conquered and pacified, they're now breed to service man, doing to jobs that man doesn't want to do. Picking up garbage, looking after the kids, doing construction, working in accounting roles.
But one dinosaur, we'll call him Ceas - - - errr Doug a product of future genetic experiments to cure the scourge of hemorrhoids develops super intelligence and the ability to think creatively and talk. He's also a Raptor. Anyways seeing the plight of his enslaved brother dinosaurs including an Angry T-Rex named Shabob Babaloo forces him to rise up as a defacto leader and he rises up to lead the Dinosaurs in a rebellion in San Fransci . . . . err Tacoma Washington.
They Conquer the human race. Incidentally a human astronaut played by Danny Walberg accidentally falls into a time slip and lands on the planet of the Dinosaurs and escapes captivity, as he's escaping he comes across the remains of the Statue of . . . . the worlds largest ball of yarn in the ocean and he drops to his knees and dramatically yells out "You maniacs . . . . you flooded it . . . damn you to hell"
And then we go to credits.

Oh come on, lighten up, it looks like its going to be a Jurassic Park movie, it'll be an action-packed no-holds-barred thrill ride, it'll be fun and thats about it.
I think people really underestimate how much thought went into the first one. Yes it was an action movie, bit every scene was thought out tiny details that made it great. Things like the water glass with the t-rex, the raptor claw on the tile, the scientist looking at the leaf while a brontosaurus was behind her, etc... The first movie had genuine wonder... This one has volcanoes.

Oh I get it, but thats what Jurassic Park was, thats not what it ever has been since.
Now its genetically engineered dinosaurs and presumably genetically engineered volcanoes! You'll see!
"Hollywood.....uh....finds a way...."

I'm probably alone on this, but I thought that trailer was awesome lol
Yeah, I don't know what everyone else is talking about. This just looks like a hell of a lot of fun. You'll probably have a watch a few times to catch all the cameos.
I've been feeling over the past few years that trailers don't often align with my final impression of a movie. There's a real skill to them, and it's not rare that they get screwed up – or on the other side of the coin – make the movie look far better than it is.
What's interesting to me is so many people rip on Ready Player One for feeling like a cheap nostalgia grab. Perhaps those people aren't wrong, but when we inevitably all live in a virtual reality utopia, you can bet your ass it's going to be 100% like that.
I really enjoyed the book, it's Spielberg, and it has Battletoads. I'm in.
