VAR showed the ball was still in the area. But yeah, that is random.

Almost as random as someone following Malawi breaking news.

Unless you’re in Malawi.

rumour says €15m transfer fee. Getting out of that horrendous deal like that is as big as a new signing, crazy stuff.

As bad as that contract is it's worth remembering that they sent Mkhitaryan at 150k a week the other way.

not a great game between Fulham and Brentford so far, hopefully it'll pick up in the second half.

Really hope Brentford can make it.

Same.
Such a shame with Covid because between the two teams and Wembley would have been a proper West London party

At the drinks break in the second half, in case anyone has some time here. It’s scoreless and could be an exciting finish!

I'd settle for a shot on target.

Terrible match so far, hopefully someone scores quick in extra time so we don't suffer through 30 more minutes of this.

From a purely financial perspective that keeper disaster might be the most expensive ever.

Apparently Benrahma might end up at Chelsea? I’m sure they need more attackers. I would take them at Spurs for sure.

Benrahma better end up at Aston Villa. They have a 100 million pound budget this transfer window and only reason they didn't sign him last year was they needed to sign too many players and he was just a little too rich for them then

A club which is owned by a billionnaire and which is currently in negotiations to sign Willian and re-sign Aubameyang at high wages is trying to convince people that 55 redundancies are unavoidable these days. Shameful stuff.

I don’t know...at some point these companies do have to do layoffs.

If you have ticket sales staff, etc that’s sole job is just to support the day to day operations of filling a 60000 seat stadium that’s potentially empty for the entire season how long do you need to employ them.

I know it would be nice to keep them all as employees but if they literally have no work to then I’m not sure it can be fully expected for the employer just to keep paying them for another year.

I don't disagree at all. The optics aren't great for professional sports (and particularly with the transfer window being open), but what are they supposed to do here? They need to sign players and those players are not going to be cheap. They don't need ticket agents (or various people these days), and yeah...a tiny piece of a player cost would pay for a lot of those types of employees. It's bad optics.

And hopefully they sign 32 year old Willian for something like $300k/week.

I imagine every club will get to this point. Maybe the oil clubs can avoid it (and win the optics points in the process), but there's gonna be some serious revenue contractions for all sports coming up.
