Some android 10 Samsung thoughts. SwiftKey and other keyboards since Android 10 have really terrible response time for voice to text, this isn't an issue with gboard, but I don't like gboard.
On the positive side of the ledger, specifically with Samsung, Bixby routines is actually pretty interesting. It does some things that automate it pro do but for free. I have a few routines already in place and they're actually quite useful. When youtube is open the phone goes to auto rotate which I keep off by default. In my car when it's connected to Bluetooth and charging the display stays on for 10 mins. When I get to work my phone goes to DND

I know a few others here have the Essential Phone (PH-1).
Any of you notice your signal strength fall off a cliff after the past few updates? Cant say for sure which update but signal strength for both WiFi and cell is about half of what I remember it being when I first got it.

I had an Essential Phone. The signal strength was far and away it's biggest weak spot. It's always been sub-par.
Switched to a Oneplus 7T and it is night and day. I get 4 bars inside my office building before. With the PH-1 I didn't have service 1/2 the time and one bar the rest of the time.

The Galaxy Z Flip is interesting in that it has a flexible glass screen (rather than plastic like previous flip phones). You can still see and feel the crease, but the glass should feel much better.

The S20 Ultra is insane. It’s going to start at close to two grand in Canada but boy do I want one. Glad I didn’t buy a Note this year.
I’m guessing folding screens are a couple of generations from being anything but a gimmick. It’ll be huge when done right.
Upgraded from the Note 8 to the Note10+ a couple months ago and that didn't really feel like a meaningful jump. Just hard to get excited about what smartphones bring to the table for quite a while now. There's always a couple things to like with the newest ones, in the case of the S20 not as much curved screen, focus on the camera and battery size.
But man the cost of these devices is just getting more and more ridiculous as every year goes by.
2012 - Galaxy S3 $650
2013 - Galaxy S4 $700
2014 - Galaxy S5 $730
2015 - Galaxy S6 $730-750
2016 - Galaxy S7 $900, S7e $1000
2017 - Galaxy S8 $1030, S8+ $1115
2018 - Galaxy S9 $960, S9+ $1100
2019 - Galaxy S10e $940, Galaxy S10 $1165, S10+ 1345
2020 - Galaxy S20 $1320, S20+ $1580, S20 Ultra $1850
I think I'm going to wait and see the prices on the One+ new 8 series. Never been a huge fan of Samsung and all their bloatware. I would also consider a Pixel 4XL if their price goes down. For reference I'm using a Pixel 2XL now and it's still getting the job done.

The Galaxy Z is the exact phone I've been wanting all these years. I love it and the crease doesn't bother me at all. A little pricey, but I'm due for an upgrade next year and will be getting a flip, I'm 90% sure.

I like the moto better in the flip segment though. I agree its intriguing but probably won't get me away from my Oneplus's just due to sheer cost
Flips phones look like one of those things were V1 are going to have a lot of growing pains. I wouldn't put down that much money for all the potential issues they could have. I like the form factor, but they probably have a ways to go.

I expect to get a oneplus (again) this fall. My 6t is still a really great phone, but with 5G pretty much nationwide here (USA) now, hard to not jump in on this. 5G capable will eliminate many budget manufacturers and yeah, no interest in Samsung bloatware/bloated pricing at all.

Impressed. Oneplus 8 pro will be my ticket out of the samsung eco system. I gave samsung a good honest try but I am not a fan. Now to get this note 10 plus sold.
