I doubt they envision him as a major difference maker as he's quality depth. Having a shooter like him on the 2nd powerplay unit can only help them.

Seems like it is shifting to be more of a seller's market. Don't mind seeing high prices as it sets the bar for Tanev and Hanifin.
If Monahan is worth a 1st, Tanev should be worth at least that.

The Brad hate was super well deserved. He had to get his man in Kadri, and overpaid in that term, and out of desperation to win, chose to deal a first to get rid of Sean. What stupidness.

Color me shocked that Monahan gets a first +.

I get that he is having a resurgent season but still may finish short of 20 goals. He is four years removed from a 20 goal season, 5 years removed from 30 goals. And it's not like he is a force in his own zone.

have to hand it to the Habs, that is wonderful asset management. Crazy stuff.

and thanks for nothing, Brad. Giving up a 1st to dump Monahan and give Kadri a fat retirement contract was dumb then, but it looks worse amd worse as time goes on.

Giving up a 1st to get rid of Mony was awful, but I highly doubt he would have re-signed with us as a UFA last year after the last few years he had here, so I don't think it's fair to say we lost out on getting a 1st.

Great asset management by Montreal though. They could use some good luck after starting a rebuild with Slafkovsky and Reinbacher.

Also I like that this seems like a seller's market. Looking forward to what we can get for our other UFAs, and maybe some other players too.

On one hand it makes you shake your head even more about the way Treliving handled Monahan...but at least the prices for players seem to be fairly high this year...so hopefully this means we can get a strong haul for Tanev and whoever else we trade.

Happy for Sean that he gets.to the playoffs and is healthy. No 85 surgeries this year. Wish him all the luck possible.

The people who made the dump Monahan with a first trade are still running the team.

There’s a new face but Calgary is still all in on wasting their assets.

If Monahan wasn't traded, Johnny stays.

So Montreal gets 2 1st round picks just by paying Monahan for a couple of seasons to play for them. Unreal.

Brad's an idiot.

Didnt Johnny leave first? We traded Monny so we could have the cap space to sign Kadri
