If anyone was wondering Dan Harmon has a cameo in episode 2.
I noticed him as soon as I saw it. He is the receptionist to George Bluth's retreat in episode 2.

My god, the sequence with Michael and Kitty discussing the Casting Couch had me in stitches. I had to rewind it about 5 times.

That appeared to be makeup and such. no?
Edit: 1. Was that really Justin Grant Wade, who played Steve Holt in the first three seasons? When Gob's son, Steve Holt, reappeared in Season 4, he was barely recognizable -- as Michael so gently put it, he looked fifty years old. In real life, Wade still looks his age (he's 29!). He just wore a bald cap with a wig to make it look like his hairline had drastically receded for Season 4.

Phew. I didn't look closely, but it looked pretty real to me. Good job on the makeup.

I watched the Tobias episode last night - I think it's called Smashed. One of the funniest episodes of AD of all time.

Overall impressions on the season:
I wasn't blown away by the first few episodes, but it became apparent that you had to really see the whole season to appreciate some of the early jokes. By about episode 4 it takes off. Tobias, Gob and Maeby episodes especially take the season to another level. The planning for the story must have been insane! It really pays off near the end, though we'll have to wait for season 5 (sounds like it's going to happen!) for the full reveal.
Really happy with the result!

Do you need to be familiar with the first 3 seasons before you jump into the new ones?
I hardly remember a thing from the first go round, aside from the obvious stuff.

I wouldn't say need, but certainly recommended. The first 3 are good enough to rewatch (esp if you only remember the big jokes) IMO.

Glad to see that people are saying the season hits its stride as it goes. I've watched the first three so far, and haven't really been feeling it too much. Definitely lol'd a few times though. Will reserve judgement for when I've seen the rest of the season.
Lindsey doesn't look like the same person. Age or surgery?

Only up to the 8th episode, and I have to agree it gets much better once you get past the first few duller episodes.
Is there a reason Buster has been used so little though? I know he was more of a tertiary character to begin with, but he's barely been used at all this season. Less than a bunch of the non-Bluth characters.

I hate on Ben Stiller, but he has always been hilarious in Arrested Development.

Tony Hale was apparently the hardest one to schedule around because he has a regular role on VEEP, which is shot on-location in/near Washington DC.

Almost done all the episodes and am loving this season. I was skeptical at first but they have done a tremendous job.

Tobias is just awesome.

The George Michael episode "It gets better" was ridiculously hilarious. When that band he put together started doing the Balls in the Air song with George Michael on the wood block I lost it.

I thought the 45 second monologue by the Narrator, coupled with the look on everyone's faces, while George Michael was thinking of the best way to answer was hilarious.

I agree with a lot of the other poster's here that the show took some time to pick up steam but really, they've re-invented the characters and the show really well. It's still surprising that they would have cancelled it in the first place. Gob has been and remains my all time favourite character although Tobias is not far behind. No pun intended.
