Everything that needed to go wrong for PSG, went wrong. Unbelievable result.

Craziest stat: From the 85th minute till the end, PSG completed four passes....three of which were the kickoffs. Yeah Barca got lucky with the Suarez dive getting a penalty, but PSG did nothing to try and milk the game, just gave it back and hoped nothing would go wrong.

Those cold weather teams really should be forced to use fieldturf. I get that players generally prefer grass, but obviously not compared to that pitch.

Why do you perceive Rostov as cold weather?

I'm still speechless when it comes to UEFAs response to Uniteds worries about the pitch. "Your players are insured, so if something happens, no problem". You really can't make that #### up.

1-0 up and now injuries so far. I hope it stays that way, then the trip would have been a huge success given the circumstances.

Pretty sure Rostov is north of Edmonton on the globe. I would consider that to be cold (and no good).

well Rostov is in the southwest of Russia, almost Ukraine. That's not Sibiria or anything, they actually have pretty mild weather for Russian standards. There are tons of places in Russia that are a lot worse, that's for sure.

I'd hazard a guess and say they didn't exactly do everything in their power to ensure the best pitch possible. Small team tactics.

It's north of Moscow and like 800 kms from the Ukraine border (thanks Google maps). Might not be Siberia, but it's not Sochi or anything. Field probably takes a beating in the winter months, and yeah they probably did nothing to improve the conditions.

lol no.

Rostov is the red marker and you see Moscow (Moskau) way up in the north.

Yeah - if you put just Rostov into google maps you get a place that is 1200km (pretty much all North) away from Rostov-On-Don.

Pretty understandable mistake - especially since if you type in Rostov it gives you the team info, but then if you just switch the toggle to google maps it takes you to the Northern Rostov.

Pretty neat article, about the warm reception United fans received in Russia.

I just saw that Suarez dive for the PK in the PSG game.

WTF. He wasn't touched.

And people are believing that the game wasn't fixed? That was absolute trash. Anytime someone says that they had the "greatest comeback in champions league history" I'm going to call BS.

the greatest comeback in history is still the Istanbul final Liverpool 3 down again Milan. MILAN! THAT MILAN DEFENSE. IN A FINAL!

I don't care if a team comes back from 10 down from now on.

Speaking objectively and completely without bias, I have to agree.

Primarily because that wasnt a round of 16 game, there was no 'second leg' and it was for the Ultimate Prize.

They didnt get a few weeks to prepare and plan, they got a few minutes to get it together.

And it wasnt just to get to the next round and generate some TV money, it was to win.

No it's not. You should watch it sometime.

Barca's was better.
Down four. Get to within one to tie to only to concede and needing three and getting it done.
And they didn't need penalties to win it.

Barca were convincing. Liverpool got destroyed. Hit a sweet patch where they scored three then got destroyed again for the rest of the game, hanging on for penalties.
