If Matthews was as good as McDavid he'd have 33 points. Oiler logic.

The next 6 games are all against power house teams from last season. It is October but could be make or break time in Edmonton. If they wind up 1-8 at the end of that run they are pretty much done for the year

Nonsense. They're just lulling the opposition into a false genuine sense of security.

But that’s another rant for another day!"
*addendum — I love how McCurdy has described the Oilers very narrow victory over the rebuilding NY Rangers as "massive."

3. See the key to winning in the appearance of ever-so-elusive "depth scoring."

But prithee, Bruce, who are those players that David Staples is expecting to be counted upon for 10–15 goals?

· Jesse Puljujarvi = 13 NHL goals
· Kailer Yamamoto = 0 NHL goals
· Evan Bouchard = 0 NHL goals
· Ryan Strome = 13 goals in 2017–18
· Drake Caggiula = career high 13 NHL goals
· Kyle Brodziak = 10 goals in 2017–18
· Jujhar Khaira = career high 10 NHL goals
· Zack Kassian = 7 goals in 2017–18
· Alex Chaisson = 9 goals in 2017–18
· Tobias Reider = 12 goals in 2017–18

Good luck with that.

I their first four games the Flames played only one at home. They played two on the road against tough intra-conference PO teams. They played the home opener of two of the opposing teams.

Yeah the Oilers have it tough.

As bad as they think their schedule has been early, they are more then well compensated the rest of the season with almost a quarter of their games being a rested team vs tired.

Honestly this 'marathon' stretch a couple games in the season should be pretty easy for elite athletes to handle. They should be more concerned that McDavid has been on the ice so much he has almost equaled the kilometers traveled by the club on the ice.

All of this complaining about the schedule, and yet the Devils are off to a great start. Did they not go through just as much travel as the Oilers?

The saddest part is that this is a list of their top forwards not named McDavid, Draisatl, or RNH. It isn't like this a list of their bottom six/bubble forwards. Three of those forwards are counted on as top six scorers. Yikes.

Missing from that list is Edmonton Oilers 25-year-old top-line right-winger Ty Rattie, and his impressive 9 NHL career goals.

I think they had Rattie penciled in for 25-30 goals this year...

Excluded, as he is expected to score way more than 10-15 goals. Didn't you see the preseason?

The Coilers keep whining about the schedule yet they keep failing to mention that it was THEIR choice to start an eastern road trip right after the overseas game rather than coming home to start the season. Had they won the first 3 games (I know, no chance) there would be no whining and it would have been a brilliant move by the Coilers brain trust (again I know, no chance).

In all honesty the part of the trip from NY to Edmonton is the worst so no New Jersey had it much easier not having to fly to the tire fire.

Any trip to Edmonton is the worst.
