The usual no effort after a long break game. Classic Flames.

That was a terrible performance by the Flames, definitely their worst effort of the season. They were completely dominated in all aspects of that game. Badly outplayed throughout and lost the massive majority of puck races and battles. Not near good enough and could have been much worse. One team was very prepared to play tonight and the other wasn't. One team played with some edge and effort and the other didn't. One team was disciplined and the other wasn't. Really disappointing how flat they were after a few days off. Zero spirit or interest in competing throughout.

Poor effort for most of the game, poor reffing too...you telling me the Canes played the whole game without a hook or slash?
Smith was good
Jagr played really well

Lots of things to still work out. On the plus side the Flames almost always start the season off slow and are usually sporting a losing record at this stage, we are 4-3. I am not worried, they will work it out.

I think you mean 'classic NHL'.

That break killed us. Everyone minus Smith and Jagr got complacent over their vacation week. They're capable of way better. Everybody.
Letting the Canes run your show like that and not coming in prepared after watching what happened in Edmonton...pretty shameful.

Time to put Bennett on the wing and make room for Janko.

They are also allowed to hold a stick for a good 5 seconds

Wouldn't be too bummed out by a Bennett, Fox package for Duchene these days, assuming that gets you somewhere in the ballpark. Flames getting absolutely nothing from the bottom six.

That was a pretty boring game. The Flames didn't play great but I don't get all the GT comments saying they were garbage. Carolina has a great defence that clogged things up and Darling made a few great saves. The Canes dominated stretches of the 2nd and early 3rd while the Flames dominated the late 3rd with it overall being a pretty even game. If Frolik or Brodie score on those open nets and the refs called the holding the stick instead of the roughing at the end of the 2nd we are talking about a win right now.

Would be nice if we had some good young energetic players in the AHL. Oh well, I'm sure Stajan, Brouwer and Glass really frighten other teams.

What happened to our transistion game and speed? We looked slow against the Canes.

Carolina forecheck with 2 players, our d were hemmed in and our forwards fly the zone and stand still at centre ice wiating for a sweet tip in. Predictable and easily countered.

Would be nice if the team put their best team on the ice at some point this season. #### positions just get Janko up here, team needs scoring on the thrid and fourth line. Don't remember either line getting a goal 5 on 5 this season besides when Monahan was on the 3rd line vs the Jets.

The Flames have to do a better job of clogging the neutral zone. The Canes were allowed to free wheel and gain speed before entering our end.

Pretender of a team, makes you question the leadership from the coaches and veterans that they can be that disinterested and engaged night after night.
Few side notes:
- Bennett is pretty useless, have I given up hope on him? No, but his lack of hockey IQ is pretty evident when you see him out there.
- The forwards as a group really lack speed, which makes it tough to generate anything. Carolina made them look terrible in that department. The GM needs to start focusing on tackling this problem moving forward.
- Jagr and Smith looked great.
- For the love of god please call up Jankowski.
