Pretty safe to say that if Calgary had Guentzel in the system he would still be in the AHL. On the flip side, if Pittsburgh had Janko in the system they would find a way to play him with Crosby or Malkin.
There are only a few reasons not to bring him up:
- Not performing in the AHL
- too deep on the parent club at center
- an abundance of offense on the parent club
- not physically developed enough to play at the NHL level
Pretty clear there is no legit reason to not bring him up.
There are however several illigit reasons the flames are clinging to
- Need Stajan's leadership
- Need Glass and Brouwer's grit
- Bennett is a star Center in the making
- Freddie is the only Hamilton on the team that has a driver's license
If we're going to bring up Janko and we are not winning... what are we waiting for?

The wizard Tre will figure it out. Most over rated GM the Flames have ever had. Most positives on this team are from the Feaster era.
To be fair I doubt decisions are fully his anyways. Jankowski not being on this team in a top 9 role is a joke.
What will the Flames tell the young guys next year when they try out? Earn a spot....? We've come to find out that is almost impossible. They'll just go out and sign more useless PTO's.

Treliving has more positives than negatives. Also yes, Feaster has positives on this squad, because draft picks take time to make the lineup. We have tons of prospects down the pipe that Treliving drafted, it just takes time to get them in

Most? Gaudreau....Monahan.............? I think you have Feaster confused with Treliving. Sutter has more impact players on this team than Feaster.

I think - of all of the players on the team brought on by Treliving that matter for long-term:
Bennett, Tkachuk, Frolik, Brouwer, Hamilton, Hamonic.
Jury is still out on Bennett.
Frolik has been great.
Brouwer is a tire-fire.
Hamilton is on a path to be a great player.
Jury is still out on Hamonic but he has been decent so far.
2 great, 2 no opinion, 1 disaster.

The main reason why Janko was sent down and is still down as of this post has nothing to do with him.
The Flames have a bunch of ???? on the roster. Guys like Brouwer that are looking for redemption. Guys like Bennett trying to stick at a certain position. Is Ferland/Lazar going to do anything. Lots and lots of questions. You can't answer them without playing them for a bit. Frankly most of the team's timing has been off to start the season. I'd personally give them a few more games, probably until they play the Canucks again in early November.
By then, you'll have enough info to go on in order to make decisions for the remainder of the season.

Everyone hating on Bennett and loving Jankowski but they both have the same amount of NHL points this year.

Except one has played 8 games in the NHL and the other has played zero. Seems like a fair comparison.

My apologies if this is rude but this is the worst argument I have ever read on this forum. Do you know how comparisons work?

So like I said Feaster has 2 impact players on this team. Not sure why you combined Sutter and Feaster. Not sure I'd call Ferland a top 6 forward either.

If it isn’t obvious to management yet, today should have shown them that Jankowski is an NHLer. Strong skater, protects the puck well, great offensive instincts, solid transitioning out of his own zone and has a surprising amount of finesse in his game for a big guy. There were some plays he made that were very ‘Johnny’ like. Very impressive performance compared to his first game last season.
He’s considerably more effective then a Freddie Hamilton or a possibly even a Matt Stajan at this point. He’s just going to get better and better once he gets use to the pace and his linemates. I think it’s definitely time to graduate him full time as we may finally have a 3rd line worthy of praise and If he can help make Sam Bennett look like that more often than not, then it’s a no-brainer because this could be the move that elevates this team into an elite one.

To be fair to management, Treliving said from the beginning of the season that Jankowski belongs in the NHL (and he just needed to make space). He hasn't accomplished that yet, of course. If Jagr comes back and someone else is waived then he's made space (or if he wizards a trade).
