I got a notice that my fixed rate for electricity has expired, and that I should log into my account to select a new plan.

Anyone else get this note, and what are the best options going forward.

thanks.

Something seem fishy? I know enmax isn't the greatest company but no reason not to believe them right? I've also never had an extra $600 credit in my account.

Wow Enmax are straight up liars.

I wish I recorded the calls. Three different people literally told me three different things.

Called the first time and they told me the above story and he also told me I was 560 khr over what they were charging me for the last 2 years which isn't that much at all.

Called again because something smelt fishy and was told my bill in February was $165 because of fixed credits which was wrong but I hung up and went and double checked and Nope it was $425.

Called again and someone else told me no, I'm going to be getting $1295 credit next month because they were over charging me for two years.

How the eff do I get three totally different answers in 20 minutes???? Holy crap. This happened in 2017 with supposedly a company who is regulated to some degree. Which person do I believe?

Anyone know of an app that records conversations?

Switch to floating, unless you like to pay more money:

I'm on floating for both gas and electricity. I think that in the long run, you end up paying less. Especially if you manage your usage.

Sounds like it was written by someone in Donald Trump's administration.

The lack of a website makes me think it will be a high pressure call with no information given over the phone. Once they come to your house they likely push hard to sign you up on the spot. If it was a good deal you would post the deal online and invite people to compare.

My scamdar is going off. Sounds like the counter to the door to door scam some companies had going before it was kyboshed. New tactic is to cast a wide net and see who they can catch.

So I called them and got their rates.

Electricity at $0.031/kWh and gas at $2.60/GJ compared to $0.033/kWh and $2.61/GJ from my last Enmax bill. So if they don't charge some of the fees that Enmax does, you would see a savings, but not from the actual commodity rates. Unless you are on fixed electricity, but I don't know why you would be.

switched to floating electricity. enmax has been raking me over the coals for 2 years and thats partly my fault for not keeping an eye on the rates.

It looks like Spot Power has some pretty good rates, and their admin fees are about half of what Enmax and Direct Energy charge.

Just had a salesman come by promoting Xoom Energy. It was a very soft sell that I didn’t engage into though I’m intrigued as it wasn’t a typical door to door sales pitch.

First few google searches show bad reviews but I thought I’d ask the brain trust if anybody has any experience with this energy retailer.

Door-to-door sales of energy contract are banned in Alberta so I would give this company a wide berth.

Default Enmax Bills

Contacted enmax: “Hello Ace, that is a new offer today. We are working on what we can do”

After hanging on the line, gave me $260 bill credit!
