There was a big event yesterday that Ludwig put on with streamers doing Chess boxing. I watched some of it. Crazy concept.

I was watching it too. What a crazy concept. A bunch of youtubers playing chess and boxing in between rounds.
It kinda reminded me of those "So You Wanna Fight" videos back in the 90's on PPV where average Joes got into the ring and fought one another. Its usually two dudes just wildly swinging at each other, similar to if you had a fist fight with a sibling or something lol.

If anyone is interested in a casual and small online rapid tournament today, I’m a member of a discord group that has organized one on lichess. All levels welcome.
You can just click to join. Usually we only have about 4 players so it’s a super casual way to get a few games in.

Nodirbek Abdusattorov is taking the TataSteel by storm. At 18 no less.

It’s crazy. He’s on 7/10–he’s a monster. He’s beaten some very good players to get there.
Anish Giri is also having a very strong event, and is right behind him at 6.5–and is also Abdusattorov’s next opponent on Friday.

In other news I think we are nearing the end of our first CalgaryPuck correspondence tournament. Some very solid chess—we have a few very good players on this board!
Let me know if there is any interest in doing another, or if people might want to do rapid or blitz instead maybe?

Howell and Svidlers commentary on Chess24 has been very enjoyable.

Congrats on your pending win! One game still to finish, but you've already clinched the top spot.
Tournament was a lot of fun, thanks for organizing. I would for sure be interested in doing another. I do think 3 days turned out to be too long for a time control. Daily is nice because you don't need everyone to be available at the same time, but I would for sure be open to something faster if the timing works out.

Yeah, I think a rapid or blitz tournament would be really fun. Difficulty is finding the right time—I’ll give that some thought.

Funny thing about the tournament is that you were actually the number 1 player in the tournament by record. You went 9-2-1 over two rounds, and I was 7-1-2. Very close.
Either way, fun event.
While we are pondering a CP tournament, I can also tell you that there is a casual blitz (5+5) tournament happening this evening at 7 PM on lichess.
It’s very friendly and casual and the people organizing it are relaxed and fun. No ringers or secret GM-bloggers allowed (though there are 1 or 2 pretty strong players depending on the week). Anyone can join.
Link to the tournament is here:

Hope to see some of you there!

I'd like to do a rapid tournament, I've done a few Daily's on chess.com and invariably a few chuckle####s turn on vacation mode and make it take an actual fricken lifetime to finish the first round

Gotta love the Iggy jersey in the background as Magnus visits Eric Hansen.
