I didn’t think anyone could be worse than Alison Redford, yet here we are.

Alberta opened up earlier and more strongly so we're really not at the same point of curve. And really we can't say who did worse when there's still winter ahead when another COVID wave is likely and more powerful than this one.

There is nothing “fiscally conservative” about this. This is straight out of the hee-haw social conservative wing.
No fiscal conservative in their right mind would kneecap bars and restaurants and give out cash to reward, I mean, entice, 20% of the population with heads up their asses. They’d do a vaccine passport and restrict those people only, so the rest of society can recover and make money.

You know what? Give me $200 for booking my vaccine the first day I was able to and we’ll call it even.
The unvaccinated still get their $100 but the responsible people get double the benefit. Seems fair to me.

Yet today, the UK's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation still didn't find that benefits of vaccinations large enough to recommend widespread vaccination of 12-15 year olds. Healthy young children are their own best protection.

The assessment by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is that the health benefits from vaccination are marginally greater than the potential known harms. However, the margin of benefit is considered too small to support universal vaccination of healthy 12 to 15 year olds at this time.

Or give them crushing reality. The ability for the public to not do business with them if they choose because of decisions they have made that make them a risk to others. Freedom goes both ways.

what does "fiscally centre right" even mean in this day and age?
it's meaningless.
just vote for the party you think will piss away the smallest amount of your money.
that's the extent of politics now.

That's exactly what I'm saying though. Fiscal conservatives will cheap out on healthcare, education, environment until the ####s hits the fan and they have to pay it back, with interest. If you haven't seen this story before then look out for it next time it rolls around
The average bill for a hospitalization due to covid is 30k. But these idiots want to open early and 'save the economy'. Well they enjoyed their two weeks of stampede.. now they have to pay everything back and more due to their short-term decision making

And who's fault was that? Most people and experts thought it was totally irresponsible at the time, and are proving, again, to be right. We can clearly say who did worse. It's Alberta. And if you are wondering who will do worse in the winter? I'll give you a hint, it starts with "A".

Given that it’s lower income people working service jobs that are primarily impacted by restrictions and shutdowns, yeah, I’d say trying to not further disadvantage the people most at risk from income instability would be a nice thing to consider important.

So they rolled out a policy that managed to make no one happy and piss off everyone. That’s actually an impressive new low for the UCP. Kenney: “I’ve seen a lot of debate and hostility in the covid forums at Calgarypuck. This announcement will hopefully unite everyone”.

It's a trade off in some ways. When we were open and enjoying summer all my friends in Ontario were complaining about all their restrictions.
