We should have pinned thread at the top with common Questions from Anti-vaxxers and the factual counter-arguments. Then we can just refer them to that thread.

That’s not a bad idea. What I like an exchange like this for is the factual counter arguments to some of these common sound bites of misinformation. Especially since I often remember reading it somewhere in the past, but don’t have the actual data and links.
We have an anti vaxxer that my wife works with, and she was asking me for some specifics to counter his you tube talking points, so this exchange, as ridiculous as it is in some ways, has been useful for that.

Does it really make sense to remove the bylaw just before peak shopping season?
I'd really like for cases to be low for Christmas this year...sigh.

The mask mandates are totally fine. I don't even notice them. Combined with the vaccine passport, and we in BC get to actually do what we mostly want.

Mask mandates should really be the last thing to go, since we know it is spread through the air.

Have there been any documented cases of deaths because of vaccinations?

Handful from blood clots related to Astra Zeneca, haven't heard of any due to mRNA myocarditis.

But yes let's defend the poster posting all this garbage. That's where the energy should be directed.

If nobody would have engaged with him after it become very clear that it wasn't going to be an actual discussion, everything would have died off, but instead people got baited and fell for his trolling. And then they started throwing personal attacks back and forth which is exactly what he wanted.
Nobody is defending him, just saying that stop engaging the trolls and launching personal attacks and we won't have these issues.
Which of course you see as 'omg stop defending him.'

I'd lift it much closer to Christmas.
Why have people indoors and maskless for a few weeks before gathering for holidays?
Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Keep in mind that this is only for the locally imposed mask bylaw that the City of Calgary put in place. The provincial mask mandate will still be in place so masking will only go away when the Alberta mandate is lifted.

Which will happen right around the time Kenney feels the noose tightening from the right wing of his party...

This has been posted and discussed twice. Vitamin D level studies are always tough to interpret correlation vs causation but there is this great thing called doing more than one thing at a time to prevent harm from Covid.
You don’t have to choose between Covid vaccines and vitamen D, you are allowed to take both.

Indeed. I've been taking vitamin D on a "when I remember" basis, since its dark early here and there appears to be zero appreciable risk.
That doesn't appear to have interfered with getting my covid vaccine at all, since I did that in the spring. I'd say go multi-tasking, but since I didn't do those things at the same time it doesn't really feel like multi tasking.

random somewhat good news. ICU numbers in Alberta now sit at exactly 100. Lowest number since the end of August...I realize this could still head North again (literally/figuratively) but good trend

Just to add to this, the Calgary Zone is at just 22 in ICU

I'm a big proponent of the vitamin D argument, and there are a lot of studies out there leaning in the direction of it being net positive.
But even if you start taking it as an oral supplement, it still takes a long time before your blood levels are where they should (assuming you are deficient and at risk of COVID), which makes it kind of negligible in the short term, but positive in the long-term. Sorta like a healthy diet, exercise, etc.
My problem is I think the messaging on these things sucks, and the government health bodies are scared of telling people their obesity and crappy diet are an issue for basically everything. COVID is just one part of it.
