To almost completely disappear from public for summer, while things get worse and the health system is on the verge of collapse, is not acceptable for someone with such an important role. She needs to resign.

I can’t believe how hard I tried to get one of those “What Would Deena Do?” shirts. Came up empty handed.
Although they have a more chill meaning now… The Dude’esque.

I feel for Dr Hinshaw as well as she has most likely been getting enormous amount of pressure from the UCP and specifically Shandro and Kenny. It’s easy to be an outsider and demand immediate consequences for her failures, but these decisions are not made in isolation and there is a whole lot of blame that needs to be assigned to those making decisions.
In saying that, I do believe the right thing to do is resign for the good of the province. As a medical doctor she took an oath to protect individuals and make judgement calls using the best known science/facts available. It is unacceptable to disappear for the summer and champion the “open for summer” campaign. Everyone makes mistakes, especially at their place of work, but unfortunately for Hinshaw the standard must be higher for someone in her position of power.
I think it’s fair to thank her for her pandemic contributions, but the mistakes she’s made need to have consequences. Please do the right thing Dr and regain some of your lost credibility by stepping aside. Your colleagues have lost their confidence in you and Albertans need someone who will ignore the political directive and make decisions strictly based on health and well-being.

She just presented manipulated data to doctors to support her previous false claim the pandemic is over. To spackle over the deaths caused by her role in the misguided lifting of restrictions.
She’s beyond saving at this point. She needs to go and now. She completely lost all credibility. I mean saying this is Kenney only is missing a key part where the doctor is frankly a liar as well.

I agree that it's time for her to go, but the prospect of the UCP choosing a replacement is terrifying. Better if she resigns though, I would hate to see Kenney fire her and then try to pin all the blame on her.

My bet is tax breaks or gift cards for businesses that implement a "vaccine verification system that is TOTALLY NOT A PASSPORT!".

They aren't vaccine passports, they're freedom cards.

Guys don't be silly. They will make anti-vaxx passes and anyone who doesn't have one has to stay home.

I could be alone in this, but Dr. Hinshaw is the one showing good leadership at this point. She gave her reasons for the decision, and took accountability. Admitting that they made a mistake under the circumstances is more than we've seen from almost anyone else to this point. I think that Covid has proven to be quite nebulous and while it's easy to look back and say "we told you!", it's not particularly useful.

Admitting you were wrong and doing nothing to fix the issues is not particularly useful.

Glibly saying "oops sarry" in a youtube telecast to a select group of people and then having that video shut down when it hits the public is not taking responsibility.

You aren't the only one.
This thread is at points reaching youtube comments section level toxic.

Admitting you are wrong is meaningless when you do nothing to fix the problem you made. People are dying needlessly under her watch. Hospitals are suffering outbreaks with patients dying, surgery canceled with no hope in sight for those bumped, staff are overworked and desperate for a break, and her response is nothing. If you consider that good, well, I'd like to apply for a job with you.
