Interesting, so you mean it isn't a draconian house arrest like I've been told.

I hope your effects are short.

Is this a BC thing? I believe that you can't do this in Alberta if you test positive for COVID

Do not go outside for a walk through your neighbourhood or park. This includes children in mandatory isolation or quarantine.

Sigh, just had one of my managers let us know that he got the call that he was a close contact and has to isolate. Up to ~10 employees isolating at my Canadian locations.

Good point. I'm in BC so may be different in AB.

Peter Loubardias just said on the radio that he has covid. He mentioned that he has a very small circle and still got it somehow.

It feels like just some thing you read about on the internet until you or someone you know gets it.
You never think a 2 hour lapse in your guard over 1+year can get you, but it can.

Being as the bulk of this forum is around my age as well, happy to share what my experience with the virus is like (although it can be different for everyone).

One thing of note from my nurse interviews, was they're particularly interested in any indoor interactions of over 15 minutes without masks.
This would make sense why restaurants are so concerning, but things like grocery stores are much lower risk.

Another thing I wasn't expecting is you're allowed to go for walks during isolation, but must wear a mask, go at off peak times and avoid any busy areas.

Oh that would be nice...Ontario is complete lock down, no walks, no outside, unless in your own yard.

Stay at home
As of April 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., a stay-at-home order is in effect for all of Ontario.

This means you must stay at home. You should only go out for necessities, such as:
  • the grocery store or pharmacy
  • health care services (including going to medical appointments or getting vaccinated)
  • outdoor exercise or walking pets in your community
  • ]work that cannot be done remotely
  • child care or school

Edited: Now I don't know how this applies to isolation but walks are allowed during the lockdown, or opps I just got back from mine

Yeah I think cheese is referring to when you’ve tested positive and are isolating. That’s the message, and other members of the household can go for walks with masks on if they are not symptomatic. It gets confusing though when “lock down” is used as a phrase to describe strict instructions during isolation, while it is also a term of a restriction phase that we are no longer in. You can also certainly walk when we are back to Lockdown (Grey).

Apologies, I meant when we are forced to quarantine. We have been instructed to stay home or in your yard. No outings at all.

My dad's chances now are more like 10%, I think that's maybe why they didn't want to give a percentage for a while because they just didn't know. I'm going to the hospital this afternoon with my brother to see him and hopefully they allow me in as a third family member. His condition isn't really changing in either direction at this point and it's just life support, but they haven't given up and are trying a few things so if he makes it to the middle of next week we'll be better equipped to make a decision. I'll update if they let me in or not.

It’s just gut wrenching to hear your updates Acey, but I really appreciate it and just wish there was something more we could do for you. I hope you have a good visit and your dad is responsive to you and your family. I know CP is with you in spirit.

Yeah this will be the hardest day of my life going in there, honestly hoping I don't break down in the middle of the hospital. To some degree I still feel like it hasn't really hit me yet and hasn't sunk in, and I'm hoping it doesn't hit me like a ton of bricks when I'm there.

It might. And it would the most natural response that I can imagine. Just being there is just so important.

Acey I really feel for you and have been looking up everything I can for new experimental treatments or drugs for treatment of Covid that might help. I ran across the start of this study from the Federal University in Acre Brazil. They are nebulizing the lungs of severely compromised Covid 19 patients with bicarbonate solutions and having success so far. The study is still in trial. God bless you.

Quote:
Sodium bicarbonate is being studied as a possible compound effective in combating Covid-19. The research is being carried out by the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) in partnership with the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). The study was approved by the National Ethics and Research Commission (Cnep).

The experimental treatment, which seeks to improve blood oxygen saturation, has already been carried out on about 300 people in Acre, according to G1. The cities covered are the capital, Rio Branco, and Tarauacá, in the interior of the state.

The researcher and coordinator of the research, Carolina Pontes, says that the solution based on bicarbonate leaves the pulmonary secretion more fluid. In patients with mild symptoms, treatment is done with nebulization. In more severe cases, the bicarbonate is injected directly into the lung and sucked back.

"It is important to highlight that this solution is a solution that exists in the hospital and that must be administered by doctors. Homemade recipes have no proven effectiveness", recalls Carolina.

The doctor João Rodrigues, 32 years old, underwent the treatment. He had 80% of his lungs compromised, and spent five days in the hospital. “The improvement was extremely significant, something that even as a doctor, I was surprised because I had never seen such a rapid improvement. Just thank God and the team, each ICU professional ”, he said.

In Acre, more than 53 thousand cases of Covid-19 were registered, and the total number of deaths in the state was 921 until Sunday (14), according to the bulletin of the Secretary of State for Health (Sesacre).

I'll share this also, just because so many of you have been following along. I take a lot of pictures. The day before he went into the ICU I asked him which of my photos he liked the best, as I will put it on my wall and for me that will be the best memory of him. I'm just realizing now how glad I am that he was well enough to tell me. My mom tried to pull the "I like all your pictures" card but I was able to get one from her as well. She has recovered 100% now.

Acey, I'm so sorry for the bleak prognosis. My wife, being a part time physio she was asked to fill in as a screener at the door and did so for most of last year. She said that if he is considered end of life then any amount of family can get in to see him, but only two at a time. I'm sorry it has to be this way. I'm heart broken for you.

That's a great pic!

My friend does a lot of landscape pics, but mostly sunsets. You can find him most nights and mornings at Henderson Lake taking pics. He often meets up with a couple other local photographers, I don't know what they do but probably photography type things. A couple of them use drones too.

Anyway, check out Robert Kruk Photography on Facebook or Instagram. He always comes up with inspirational/positive phrases when he posts his pictures. He has a very positive outlook on life even through the loss of his father a few months ago. I hope, if you check it out, that you can find inspiration from the beauty of his pictures and the words he uses in his posts.

He's a Flames fan too!

When my grandmother passed last year they permitted 3 of us to be with her. I think that's still true now.
