Curious why that would sound like church spread to you though. Virtually no churches are operating similar to grace life.

I'll admit I assumed it would be connected to church attendance as being an adult that has a social circle large enough for at least 20 people get sick is indicative of some kind of regular, organized social group. One of the best fits for this is church attendance.

I am not a churchgoer, and I know that the only part of my life where I know enough people for 20 of them to get sick and that not be every single person I associate with is work.

I guess the same for me as driveway. Just process of elimination and any outbreaks I've heard of personally have had some connection to religious gatherings.

It was the 20 people thing, and that you're an adult, and there would likely have to be a regular gathering. Church being the most common regular gathering these days. Most other gatherings are shut down.

The church thing made sense to me, too. Otherwise what are the chances someone would know 20 different people who got COVID from 20 different places in the same week, including their elderly mother?

I guess if literally everyone you know isn’t taking it seriously and thinks it’s a nothing virus... better odds, but still gotta be low.

We have about 1000 of us that all send our kids to the same school. So if it blows through the school it’s going to hit a lot of folks, especially if a lot of these folks don’t take things seriously and visit each other like it’s 2019. Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long to get to our community.

Doesn’t sound like it’s changing opinions, though. ‘Everyone’s fine. This is just like flu season.’

Couldn't it as likely been a workplace or the mall or from a restaurant/bar?

Maybe work, but that wouldn't really explain mom and buddy's 82-year-old dad as easily (could be buddy got it at work, then spread to dad, but still doesn't explain mom).

I don't know anyone who rolls 20 deep to the mall or to a restaurant (especially given restrictions on seating).

It wasn't a slight against church. Just a place where a gathering of 20 people of wildly different ages is most likely.

V is out here knowing 1000 people though. So his acquaintance group is a bit different than mine. Any group of 20 I know are coming from several different social circles.

Bit of a setback as oxygen levels were dropping and they had to increase ventilator assistance so we're back to the point of 2-3 days ago, but stable now, but the good news is that the lung infection is clearing.

Like almost everyone here, COVID has started making its way into my personal circles. A handful of friends turned up positive in the last week or so. Thankfully all were asymptomatic or had minor cases.

Well, Covid completely ravaged our school before they went to in home learning for this week. All four of my kids are now close contacts. Not sure how I can isolate all four of my kids. Nice thing is they are showing no symptoms and they haven’t been around anyone since Friday, so I think that means they’re in the clear? I think we’re going to have to ignore the idea of isolating the kids from us at this point and just quarantine everyone with the exception of myself running around getting groceries and supplies for folks through click and collect. Fun times!

Good night for my dad, sedation down with oxygen levels and blood pressure stable. They allowed my brother to see him through the glass so I'm going down on Thursday.

Doctor is concerned that the lung inflammation is not going down, says the next couple days are crucial as he's reached a point that he has seen in other patients where it's more definitive if they either make it or they don't. My mom doesn't think he'll make it and is in shambles. It's getting really tough but I'm just trying to stay positive. I'll update again when I can.

I don't want to reply to every post individually as it's too many but as I said in the first thread I very much appreciate all of your support through this and will never forget it. Thank you very much.

I know for me I come on here every day hoping for a good update from you. The last couple weeks, or whatever it's been, most days I don't even check the Flames forum I just check to see how your parents are doing. I'm sure I'm not the only one. We're all pulling for him.
