Personal Experience with COVID?

My symptoms were gone by Wednesday, and I tested negative yesterday morning. 100% back to normal, taste and all.

Wife is still testing positive with the very faintest of lines on her rapid test, but her cardio has almost completely recovered. Her sense of smell and taste is coming back slowly.

Glad we had our shots, that could have been so much sh*ttier.

Honestly, it's just kind of a relief to know that everything I experienced neurologically and cognitively in the last 16 months or so has an explanation. It has been the hardest period of my life dealing with the effects of first the vaccine and then the virus itself, but at least I can now with some confidence say what the source of the issues has been and know that others have had similar experiences, even though there is no explanation of what makes me vulnerable to the virus.

My biggest fear at this point I suppose is that while most people seem to recover, there may be potential of much longer-term health consequences. The Spanish flu apparently resulted in Parkinson's for some people who got it, and some research suggested the same for bird flu. It seems too early to tell for covid, but hopefully it's not also the case.

I got it in January and it took months to get back to 'normal.'

Glad you're back to 'normal' and sorry you've been hit hard by it too. Have you had any helpful medical advice along the way that made much of a difference to it?

I'm 11 months now from getting covid and still substantially affected, and am 16 months out from getting the vaccine and still affected by it too. All day yesterday I had a burning sensation in my arm with little muscle spasms and twitching in my face and arm. It still even wakes me up at night sometimes with the sensation of burning in the nerves of my arm, and all those symptoms just started from the vaccine. Actually getting covid caused an experience like a very bad concussion that lasted for about 7-8 months and was pretty incapacitating for all kinds of cognitive activities as well as seemingly impacting personality. I'm now much better than a few months ago, but it pretty much wiped out my life for most of a year and still left symptoms that hit me daily.

I know people go through much worse health challenges, but this has been the toughest I've had. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, and unfortunately I've found there just isn't much medical guidance.

Wife and I have been sick this past week and finally tested positive today after a few days of negatives. Guess it was finally our time. We are triple vaxxed so aren't expecting it to be as bad as others have had (hopefully). Feels like it's about a 25% cold that is being held back by something. Wife had one night last week where she woke up at 3am with a pretty big fever, but otherwise nothing major. Just some throat irritation, some sniffles and a small cough.

After spending the last year or so acting normally with no covid precautions I thought our family might be immune, as we've never tested positive before. But I started feeling crappy yesterday and today I finally tested positive. Triple vaxxed, so far it just feels like a bad cold with nasal congestion and a chunky cough. Guess I should finally get around to scheduling my 2nd booster shot, how long should I wait after testing negative again?

We were the same here. I travel a lot for work and nothing. Then in August I had a sniffle and small cough on a trip and didnt even think of Covid. After being home for 3 or 4 days I felt crappy for the first time. Wife suggested maybe covid and picked up some test kits and yes positive. Next day I was fine abd she had her turn. Same as me just like a mild cold. Checked on the next shot and thet said not for 6 months after having it.

Does anyone know how long you need to wait after having Covid before you can get vaccines for shingles etc?

My first Covid.

Felt a bit off on Friday and by Friday evening I was sick. Tested positive on Saturday fever, chills . Tonight I feel slightly off except for the muscle pains especially my stomach from coughing. 3x vaccinated. Hopefully I'm on the mend.

She insists it will be months or up to a year due to what she read online.

It varies a lot. My friend had it back within a couple days. I've heard other people who've had it go on for months.

My daughter was less then two weeks to recover taste.

Within a week for me, but 10 days for my spouse.

Anecdotally it seems to be a few weeks for most people I know. It was 3 for me. I only know 2 people who lost it for 6months +. I hated it though, so I hope it clears up soon!

For me personally it took about 3-4 days but I have a friend who lost it before Christmas last year and it still hasn't returned. So clearly it's all over the place.

She was surprised when she started smelling strong odors again after about 4 days so she is optimistic it'll be fine in a couple more days.

A good friend of mine tested positive for COVID today. She has lost her sense of taste and smell

The whole family got covid over Christmas. 6 days later still have a lingering cough with "deep" phlegm. Had a fever without chills. More lije hot flasges coupled with bodyaches and sinus pressure.

Had my first confirmed case of COVID starting Christmas Eve. Got real bad body aches and a tough headache, of which, maximum doses of acetaminophen and ibuprofen were able to take care of. However, I suffered through 2.5 days of the WORST sore throat of my life. I've had strep throat many times in my life and I thought that was rough but in no way compared to the pain I was suffering this time with COVID. Brought me to my knees. Couldn't sleep, eat or drink without excruciating pain. Was able to get a prescription of Benzydamine to gargle with (which numbs your throat) and finally gave me relief. God that was horrible.
