^You can order a pulse oximeter from Amazon and get them delivered in about a day (at least I did). They are about $35 but seem to work fine. A good thing for people to have on hand, just like a thermometer.

Acey,
I visit this thread infrequently. I'm heartbroken for you. The humility, and openness you shared, and then the community of replies from this forum is heartwarming.
May your dads memories forever be warm & easy. Lots of love man.

Thanks a lot. Yesterday was a hard day, and today is worse. I was hoping it'd start to get easier... but it's not. I know it will get better eventually but I've just been having a pretty tough time.

It will continue to get better and worse for a long time. I lost my first wife in an automobile accident in 2005 and even being re-married with a child, it is still getting better and sometimes worse. It's supposed to be that way I think. I say worse because sometimes I still get really sad and emotional about it but those are times where the memories are the most vivid. It keeps them with me.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is ok for it to be hard. Talking helps a lot of people and if you ever want an ear there are a ton of us here that will be that. We don't know each other. We simply enjoy the same hockey team but I understand how much grief can hurt. If you ever need an ear I am a DM away.

It's just little things that didn't bother me before are really disheartening today. Like I made a post in the Calgary aviation group on Facebook sharing my dad's favorite plane photo that I posted earlier in here, and it got a ton of comments and well wishes from people in there, over a hundred. I did not read the vast majority of comments because I was too sad, but this week I was going to read them and message back some of those folks. Tonight an admin in that group (fully grown man) didn't like a joke I made so he banned me from the group and deleted all my posts so I will never get to see those messages, then blocked me when I begged him to see the post for just a few minutes. What a cruel thing to do; posting about it in public forums has been my way of dealing with it.
Just lame things that shouldn't matter really ruin my day.

Acey, Is that in the spotters group? I know I’m in at least one group with you on Facebook - I know you said he deleted your posts, I can try to screenshot the comments for you if we’re in the same group and the posts are there. IMO you’ve got the best photos in those groups, so banning you is a huge loss over some power trip.

It's still in the YYC Calgary Airport Spotters group and hasn't been deleted.

Acey, I have always looked forward to you posts on CP and Skyscraperpage when it came to the ring roads or aviation. Both are favorite topics of mine and you always seemed to have good information. I didn't always agree with some of the opinions but always looked forward to seeing what you had to say as it was always worth a read. I've missed those posts. To see you post again on the Rind Road thread yesterday made me happy. I know you are hurting inside but just seeing your name and postings on threads other than this one makes me happy and hopefully helps bring some normalcy to your life right now.

I rejoined SSP. I'm following construction projects and airport stuff far less these days but I'm sure I'll have the odd thing to say.

Acey, sorry to hear about that. I have recently had a similar experience with two subforums on reddit (and oddly enough, the same moderators between them...)
People on the Internet can get pretty high, mighty, and authoritarian from behind their chairs and monitors. It is very discouraging. I tell myself it's because these people have absolutely no power in other settings and thus find need to over exert when any opportunity arises. The internet and these mircro communities are just really good at producing these opportunities.

Crackmacs that POS banned me from a subreddit. A subreddit that they moderate even though they have a loose tie to the topic compared to me. Banned because I disagreed with his absolute stupidity and lack of humour. I hate that tit.

Yeah it's just frustrating. I use that group for driving traffic to my small business (aviation photography) and without that group I don't really see a way for it to be viable. I guess it's my fault for putting my business in the hands of an absolute moron but it's sad to see grown men acting like absolute children.

Can you just start your own group? If everyone thinks this guy is a dick, and you take really good photos, maybe it wouldn't be to much effort to get something together.

Yeah I could, but I wouldn't be able to develop an audience of 6,000 people that this group has accrued over 10 years. This is far off-topic now though so I'll move on.

I'd join that group.
As an aside, my aunt was released from hospital yesterday. Even though she has pretty significant comorbidities, she got pretty lucky to only need minor care for two weeks (besides draining fluid around her lungs and treatment of blood clots).

Off topic. You should start a blog, or vlog is you're comfortable. Traffic from CP alone would be a good start.

Thanks. Well I did make a group, it's here... at the very least I'll post my photos and updates in there and not to toot my own horn but I think they're pretty good. It's only aviation related stuff, for the record.

I have one, it's at https://acphoto.ca/blog
Just matter of finding content to put there. Maybe starting my own group will be the incentive I need to make more content. The majority of my effort I direct to my Instagram which drives traffic to my site and generates a few print sales.

From personal experience you shouldn’t let that bother you. I built a 9k FB group of engaged podcast listeners/hockey players. It took me 5 years. When I was terminated without cause, my ex-employer claimed they owned the podcast and the group whilst giving me the boot.
In 15 months since then I have built another group of 18,000+ beer league players/podcast listened that are more engaged than anything I had before.
I do the same work I did before. I’m happier, make more, work less. Sometimes getting the boot is just what you need.
Edit. I see you did start a group. I’m going to join.
