Yeah, we did that to get my kids' passports faster this summer. Felt like a scumbag, but it worked.

I'm not worried about the getting sick part but the rules around catching while you're there being able to come back etc.
I'd personally cancel it if I could and have enquired about it but I doubt I can without losing a ton of money..

Are there any rules? I’ve yet to see any. I’ve flown probably 20 ish times this year and there are always sick people on the flights.

It's not the flight (although I HATE flying), or getting sick or anything like that. I think many countries still check you on arrival and departure no? Like if you catch covid while there, you're stuck there even if asymptomatic.

I think every country is different. I read that the Domincan still randomly tests (although that could be old, getting a straight answer was tricky) and that you have to stay for 7 days if you test positive, even if asymptomatic.
We've travelled during this as well, but just to the US. We're going since I don't think changing is an option anyway, it just popped into my head the other day. I hadn't really thought much about it then for some reason.

Looks like no testing or vaccines required to travel there. Some random testing happens but you are exempt if you are vaccinated.

Sorry having some last minute anxiety causing questions I just need some clarification on to put my mind at easy. My family (wife, myself and kids aged 10 & 6) are flying to LA and I just want to confirm.
- Any proof of vaccine still needed to fly into the US ? And if Kids are under 18 and are exempt if there are.
- Masks still required in the airport and on the plane ?
Sorry, I’m sure these are all in the thread but the wife has my anxiety dialed up to about 12 at the moment about this.

Not totally sure about vax requirements, but it would’ve been asked for when you checked in. If it wasn’t you should be fine. Customs never asked, even if it was required. It was put on airlines to validate during the check in process.
But I can assure you masks are NOT required in airports or on planes.

See: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...tml#noncitizen for the official USA rules
Over 18s need to be vaccinated to enter the USA, under 18s are exempt. I've gone numerous times and haven't been asked about it for a long time, but I still carry my proof of vax anyway. The online check-in has never asked, even when quarantines were required iirc.

We're heading to Hawaii in a few weeks and my 2-year old is only partially vaccinated... do we still have to produce a negative test within 5 days of landing? According to the CDC website that seems to be the case, is that still the case?

I'm reading something about unvaccinated children needing to take a test within 3-5 days of arrival into the U.S. and quarantine ?
That is something that is technically mentioned on the CDC website and on the attestation form (if your airline asks for one).
But the reality is that a test after arrival (or quarantine) is something that has never been checked for in the U.S.
At check-in they might want to verify that you filled out the form, but there has never been any kind of enforcement after arrival in the U.S.

Just got to Honolulu and there was no talk of vaccines at any part of the travel; Canada side or on landing.

I'm flying from Calgary to Saskatoon next weekend. What's the current rule about masks on planes / airport?

There is no requirement, it’s been lifted.

Lifted end of Sept. But you do you. your choice. whatever you're comfortable with. and if you are actually sick then please don't spread whatever it is.

Yeah, we flew to Mexico last week and roughly 0% of the passengers/crew were masked. I sure wished the people next to me who coughed the entire flight down (and seemed to have fevers) would have. Plus he spilled a drink on me. We didn't wear masks, but we also weren't hacking up a lung the entire time.

Great news, I'm triple vaccinated but my wacky brother isn't and I just booked us flights to Maui. I'm sure he'll be happy, I'm glad to avoid the red tape but I wouldn't have minded ordering to get his shots, ha!

Just got back to Canada a few days ago and nothing on the way back either.
One note of caution though, is that a lot of people are sick right now and it's easy to catch something that can spoil your vacation.
My wife caught a cold and was basically in bed for 3 days at a very nice hotel/resort she couldn't enjoy, and I was left taking care of our 6 month old alone which was difficult as well away from home.
My symptoms showed up as soon as we got home and have been fighting it off 3-4 days here.
We didn't wear masks on our way down or anywhere on the trip and in hindsight I'd be more careful to not spoil our vacation.
We wore masks on the way back to try and not spread anything to anyone else.
