I'm working in the Bell Tower in Edmonton today, which requires crossing through the bubble zone to get in from the street. Saw Gio and Monahan walking from the Sutton to the arena, the Flames branded masks are quite nice

Bottom line is, there is no freedom of the press in the bubble. NHL rules, NHL info. Even if a guy like Spector creeps around the halls and gets to rub shoulders with the players as he desperately wants to, uncovers some juicy info on players or on COVID or on something the league is neglecting from telling the public, any of those reporters will be committing career suicide if that info gets out of the bubble. So, even if they find something out, they can’t do anything with that info anyway, and they know that full well.
Instead, it’s a move for a selfishly based professional profile raiser and an ego boost to be the rare bubble reporter, and the free 2.5 months eating free food and staying in a free hotel room, for whoever 3 go in there “independently”.

How did I know the Flames weren’t going to pull the JW Marriott? The Delta and Sutton are dumps.

I'm assuming the players will still be made available for interviews via videoconference? How is that any different than during the regular season?
Does media normally hang out at the hotel and inside restaurants? So why would they now?

If you don't think playing Mario Kart Wii with a group of guys gets you feeling aggressive then I don't know what to tell you.

You’ve obviously never played Mario Kart.
Im glad they’ll be right pissed before hitting the ice. If they could organize pre-game Settlers of Catan against the opponents, the bloodlust on the ice would be palpable.

Not enough to get aggression out. Throwing banana peels doesn’t seem to cut it.
What they should do is make them play any EA NHL series before hand. That’ll get the aggression pent up to the highest levels. Preferably HUT.

Yeah let's not get the PHWA or AP in the bubble. I can only stand so much Maple Leafs and McDavid news in a day.

Reports of bad wifi at the JW Marriott in Edmonton. The gamers are sad.
Toronto bubble wifi reportedly very good.

There will be a fencing system running through each location to keep everyone inside the bubble secure and away from the general public. There will be 97 security guards and health ambassadors in Toronto and 125 in Edmonton.

Why does Edmonton require 28 more security guards than Toronto?
