Where's the go to place to buy model airplanes like that? Used to love it as a kid and I think I would like to get back into it being older with more patience and attention to detail.
Best store in the city is Model Land on 26 Ave SW. They have EVERYTHING you could ever want to build.

They are ok but there's hardly any good planes in stock right now. Better bet is great hobbies in deadmonton, Tower Hobbies/horizon, balsa usa etc in the states.
If you have any interest in art, artists and makers I strongly suggest you follow the #ArtAdventCalendar on twitter for the month of December. Last year over 400 hundred artists took part in a daily post of their work, this year will likely be more. It was started by @Jayispainting and artist out of Edmonton.
It’s a great way to brighten up your timeline and discover some very talented and creative people. Go check it out and follow some of your favorites

Not quite the same kind of making but I have my LED lightshow up and running smoothly. Good mix of technical/electrical plus the computer programing side of things. Also had to brush up on my HTML skills which are now non-existent for creating a website for song requests mortgagejordy.remotefalcon.com
Here is a video of this years show.
