Johnny needs a wakeup call. You can't act like a hart contender when you play very mediocre for a whole year. People notice.

In his "mediocre" season has more points than many other players on the list...The style of play in these tourneys is also right up Gaudreau's alley look at his past performances in best on best events.
Gaudreau is a LOCK for team USA for the next decade
"living in the past" lol its last season...and its not like his totals are that bad even this year
Nathan MacKinnon had 53 points in 2017...guys have off years. Gaudreau 84,99,70 in three seasons is pretty damn solid production for a player his age

That was him developing as a player, not having an off year. I don't think those two situations are compatible at all.

Gio is my favorite Flame but he will be almost 39 when these games will be played. Would love to see him get a chance to win though.

Not gonna lie, the year Johnny was in the World Juniors, I was cheering for Team USA. It'd be harder because this time around it's the Olympics, but it would be hard for me not to cheer for the US team.

There is no way that there will be NHL players at the 2022 Olympics. In fact you could see a complete boycott of the event.

Was your unbiased opinion expecting Petterson's output to be flat in his 2nd year? How about Brock Boeser; were you expecting three years of flat output, and a notable decrease in goals in his third year, despite the same amount of games played each year?

Boeser was supposed to explode in goal production thanks to the unsurpassed opportunity to play with Pettersson. I wonder what happened there.

When Johnny really only brings point scoring to a roster (let's be honest here) then it is tough to justify taking him when his point production is at the same level as more complete players.
Johnny has been very mediocre since Feb 2019. Looked like he might have found a bit of hid groove in the ~7 games before this situation occurred, but not good enough. Boy better be hitting the gym hard if he wants to bring his superstar status back. Never going to be an EA cover boy at this rate.

I look at the smaller players in the past like Mullen, Loob, Fleury, and St Louie. Then, you look at Gaudreau - kind of shake my head and wonder what happened? I recall one year where Gaudreau actually weren't afraid of going in the dirty areas. Now, he's just a kid whose afraid to get hit!

I don’t understand cheering against your country in the Olympics. If several of my team’s players were playing for other countries and Canada had none I still cheer for Canada.

Someone should just be sending pictures of MSL's legs to johnny for the next several months. At least one close up of those giant ass quads per day. Johnny, this is what you need.
Edit: also- no more f'in skittles!

I don't see how this would help Gaudreau at all. I agree that the best thing he could do for himself is to fix his diet, but there is nothing wrong with how Gaudreau skates and handles the puck. A lot of his problems over the past year look psychological to me, and that won't be rectified by a regimen of quad exercises.

What about quad shaming though?

You're using a league shutting down with a month left in the season to say his output is flat? Desperate.

No, I was not expecting a wrist surgery, a literal broken back, or handling the ailing health of his father in Brock Boeser's first three seasons. Were you? Or did you just prod the voodoo doll over and over again and hope and pray? The fact he's still producing at an incredibly high level through all of this is amazing. Also, finding a second dimension in his offensive game now that he has other goal scorers on his line isn't a problem. You're acting like having a pool of offensive options is a bad thing. I'd try a new doll or a new pin. Something isn't working.
If you consider these things to be "Sophmore Slumps" then sure, sign Hughes up. I would love if he had an incredibly productive second season.

Turned out Pettersson could shoot too, so now Brock also passes.

Elias Pettersson
2018–19: 71GP 28G 66Pts — 0.39 G/GP; 0.93 Pts/GP
2019–20: 68GP 27G 66Pts — 0.40 G/GP; 0.97 Pts/GP
That looks pretty flat to me.
The difference of 0.01 goals/GP extrapolated over a full season is negligible. The difference of 0.04 points/GP amounts to +3 pts. Whoopee.

It doesn't seem to have helped them. In 2018–19 Boeser and Pettersson combined for 56 goals. This season they have combined for only 39 in the 57 games that Boeser played this year.

Site admin can't figure out how to edit a post so just double posts. Weak.
Looks flat to you? Isn't the number this year higher than the number last year? How is that flat?
Also, Boeser got moved off the line to spread scoring after the injuries started so it makes sense that they'd have less goals together this year.

No to Marchessault on the Canadian squad...
Would Gaudreau make the Canadian squad? Over Hurbedeau? Couturier? Maybe over Hall?
But going that deep in the lie-up someone like Bo Horvat would be considered.
Barzal, Tavares, Mark Stone, Toews ..Maybe Kirby Dach or Lafrenière. amended post to Gaudreau doesn't get invited to tryout camp as a Canadian.
