Should be an easier opponent, but they beat Russia and Sweden.

Looks like a character team with a decent scoring punch

The Sedin-hate is weird.

I mean, sure I like to make fun of them too... but I would trade half the Flames' roster to get them in a heartbeat.

Demitra/Hossa/Gaborik are playing great and so is the big man Chara and Halak. They don't have the depth to match up to us.

What is the 1st? USA over Canada?

This IMO is the 1st because Slovakia just eliminated the defending gold medallists. Canada's loss to the US did not eliminate us and in fact pumped up the team. 8-2 over Germany and 7-3 over Russia. Slovakia is now in trouble.

I was about to say #1 is when Russia lost but that was also to Slovakia and not during the eliminations. I put this as #1 now.

And importantly they can defend and have a hot goalie.

Yeah, wasn't really evaluating the stakes, just how heavily favorited Canada was in the game and how poor they looked in the first game.

Honestly? Not a shocker for me, though I was expecting: Canada, Russia, Finland and USA/Sweden, so not that big of a shocker.

that was a very nice result

Slovakia may be playing well but they don't have the depth of Sweden, that game was very much like US/Canada. Sweden outshot them and out chanced them and if they played 10 times Sweden probly wins 8

don't get the whole Sedin's disappeared stuff, they pretty much put that to bed last year and they created a bunch of chances tonight that their wingers didnt finish

Its an easier road to the gold medal game through Slovakia than it would have been through Sweden

and if there is any chance this is the Demitra the Canucks are going to see for the rest of the year, yes please

Now that this is over, I'd say we have a more favorable matchup in Slovakia...

however, don't count em out, this team did beat Russia and Sweden.

They will bring their best of effort, much like the Swiss do.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canada destroyed Slovakia.

Having the twins means having to give up one or more of Iginla, Bouwmeester, or Kiprusoff.

No thanks.
