Icon39 Tocchet will not return to the Coyotes

I thought he was a pretty solid coach for that team. Took them to the playoffs last year.

Two solid coaches on the market now. I wonder where this leaves Kessel? Must still be a ss with the ownership group where a coach would walk away.

Two days, two coaches who either won't return or have mutually agreed to part ways.

Is this the new "fired"?

For what it's worth, Tocchet's contract was up. Not really a case of somebody resigning or anything like that.

New GM’s often want their own coach. Hard to do last year after making the playoffs; easier now after missing the playoffs

True. I think I’m probably reading too much into the mutual agreement to part ways statement. I tend to think that means the coach decided to walk and management didn’t hold back but they would’ve considered bringing him back.

if Tochett isn't offered a head coaching gig, Flames should offer him an associate coach gig. He'd immediately be our most accomplished assistant.

I think Canada 02's post makes sense, too — Tocchet was a Chayka hire. I'd imagine Bill Armstrong will want to get his own guy.

I could see the new hire being Mike Van Ryn, who was previously the head coach of the Coyotes' AHL affiliate in Tucson and who has been an assistant coach for the St. Louis Blues (Armstrong's former team) since 2017.

I played against him a long, long time ago.

Coaching swap? Torts to ARZ and Tocchet to CLB?

Tocchet has been absolutely mediocre. Glad he’s gone, AZ deserves better.

The Yotes are not paying what Torts would want. They will hire some guy from the vendor shack. I think Torts ends up in Buffalo.

More former Coyotes please. Let's give him an executive position. If there's an organization we need to emulate, its definitely the Coyotes.

We already do emulate them.

Or, they emulate us?

Not sure. But we both suck. Perennially mediocre to poor.

I am betting they give the job to Housley, he will come cheap and is already an assistant there.

Tocchet and Francis were teammates in Pittsburgh. I wonder if he already has a job lined up in Seattle?
