It's really hard to fit him in given the current roster construction. I'd argue you can only have so many small guys and so many soft guys.
Gaudreau - tiny and soft
Mangiapane - small
Monahan - fairly soft
Backlund - fairly soft
Jankowski - soft like Siberian Forest Cat
Ryan - smallish
Czarnik - tiny and soft
I dunno. If the team somehow gets a little bigger, stronger and more physical then Czarnik suddenly becomes a better option. If Gaudreau is ever moved then Czarnik would get a real shot IMO. As it stands I think you keep him in the AHL because another soft, small forward isn't going to be a difference maker with the current roster construction.

Czarnik scores again tonight. He's clearly too good for the AHL, I'd be surprised if he wasn't recalled soon. I could see him getting a look with Monahan and Gaudreau.

I was checking some league stats and Stockton is just killing it.
3rd in points % in the entire league, and boast the top PP and PK in the Western conference.

AHL affiliate success is always hit and miss. Look for prospects' individual progress over team success.

This. Good news is Phillips, Gawdin and now Philp are helping to lead the charge!

Just from listening to the games, the player on the Heat that I find quite interesting is Adam Ruzicka. Kind of a Michael Ferland vibe.

This is and always has been such a stupid statement about any player, I wish people would just stop saying it ad nauseum the way they do because it is never true.
Czarnik is not clearly too good for the AHL. The guy has been an AHL/NHL tweener for 4 seasons now. He's 27 years old and has 13 goals and 38 points in 121 NHL games. In the AHL Czarnik has 57 goals and 165 points in 165 games.
Since joining the Flames organization he has 21 points in 62 games (27.77 points/82 games). During his tenure here he has played 1:17 per game in PP time (just shy of 80 minutes total). At even strength he has played 236:58 of his 693:28 ES minutes with one of the Flames 5 regular top 6 forwards.
For comparisons sake, let's look at everyone's favorite whipping boy, Mark Jankowski.
AHL
Czarnik 165 in 165, Jankowski 70 in 78 (In his first 3 AHL stints Czarnik was 86 in 93)
NHL (Flames Tenures)
Czarnik 21 in 62 (25.75 per 82), Jankowski 58 in 186 (25.57 per 82)
Czarnik 1:17 PP-TOI/GP (79:43 total), Jankowski 0:27 PP-TOI/GP (83:19 total)
Czarnik 236:58 TOI (34.17% of total ES TOI) w/ at least 1 of the Flames top 5 forwards at ES, Jankowski 258:53 TOI (13.32% of total ES TOI) w/ at least 1 of the top 5 forwards at ES (in 2017-18 I used Frolik as the 5th forward)
If according to the masses Jankowski is not NHL caliber, how is Czarnik, when Jankowski also provides PK ability.

It's a shame that the #1 team in Pt% is a division rival and the Heat are 0-4 against them

Too good for the AHL, not good enough for the NHL. He'll be in Europe to start next season.

Sure seems like Gillies may have found his game. His numbers are better than Z despite not getting the run support as the backup early in the season. It appears he may have wrestled the starting gig away from Z st this point

How is the defence? Yelesin had hype coming out of training camp but has not really pulled away from the pack. Davidson seems to be putting up points and earned a callup earlier in the season.
Yelesin, Valiev, Davidson and Nielsen are all under nhl contract I believe. Can anyone shed some light on them if it comes to depth for injuries or the playoffs?

The defense is not great, it's much better than last year though. I would not want any of them playing in the NHL playoffs or playing in the NHL on a regular basis. I would be okay with Davidson in the press box though

A decent pro goaltender maybe. Not convinced he has the makings of a regular NHL-level goaltender.

Agreed, it will take more than one decent season to restore my confidence in Gillies, but it is at least encouraging to see a significant improvement over the last two seasons.

It appears Gillies as taken over as the starter. or 1a for the Heat as well, he's started 6 of the last 9 games
Since that game where he got yanked after giving up 3 goals on 5 shots, Gillies is 6-0-1, 1.83gaa and .937sv%

Pospisil is back for the Heat tonight. He'd been out since mid-October after getting hurt in that fight.
