If you take a hard look at those two Dogfighting screenshots I posted... they are pretty cool. The chasing Hornet is destroying an asteroid that is between it and its target. The planet (with rings) and nebulae look great as well.
Assets in a static pose in Cryengine editor with Photoshop. Doesn't mean any of that will be in actual game play.
The constant stretch goals with funding were ridiculous. These were obviously features already in the pipe and they just claim them as stretch goals unlocked by funding.
Funding rewards should grant contributing backers personal rewards (special in game items, colors, etc.) and not just feature bloat.
I haven't been to the MWO forums in awhile but I imagine people are facepalming at the golden clan mechs for $500.

To be fair to CIG, they never claimed otherwise. Chris openly stated after the 18 or 19 mil goal that every incoming stretch goal would just be non-weighty additions (more ships, stuff that obviously costs less than $1 mil) or just confirmations of ideas already in the pipe.
CIG has been very open that any additional money past $20 million just allows them to hire more staff and push things out faster and with better QA, or expand existing operations like their new facility in Austin.

It is absolutely hilarious. It pretty much confirms everything people had assumed back in May about how far up their asses their heads are.
Goon propaganda related to PGI being awful at their jobs (spoilered because it's kind of off topic though not really):
Spoiler!

Hopefully they haven't underestimated the work needed on the backend. That would be funny
When they originally announced the different module release dates, it was well before they had complete crowd funding for everything. The original intention was for the dogfighting module to be more of a stand alone promo piece, to get investors to pony up the rest of the cash. Once it became clear that they didn't need any actual investors, Chris Roberts thought it was pointless to dedicate resources on an alpha module that wasn't connected with the full game
So now they're creating their own netcode to run the dogfighting module on instead of the default Crytek netcode, which includes setting up the entire server backend to run it from. That's what is going to take a couple of months to build, but once it's done it should enable the future modules to be completed faster

1. CIG has always been very upfront that the last 15 or so stretch goals have been things that were already planned, but they will now commit some additional resources to. I'm not sure why you find this ridiculous.
2. Actually considering they are supposed to be showing the Dogfighting Module in-action on Friday morning... I somehow doubt that those screenshots are fakes.
On Friday, Star Citizen developers in Austin, Manchester and Los Angeles will be joining you for a multipart livestream event in order to share our current status. We would like to take questions from the community for the event, and have established three forum threads to draw from. If you have a question for the team, please post it there before the event!
- Foundry 42 (Squadron 42)
- CIG Austin (Hangar Patch 10)
- CIG Los Angeles (Dogfighting)
The show will open at [10 AM Mountain] with Chris Roberts and the team in Los Angeles. Then we’ll move across the pond to check in with the team at Foundry 42. They’ve just moved in to their new office and are eager to show you around… and share the current status of Squadron 42.
The stream will continue with the epic 50th episode of Wingman’s Hangar and then Hangar Q&A with the team in Austin. It concludes with Chris Roberts and the LA team demonstrating Dogfighting and answering some of your burning questions!

Have you guys been paying attention to elite dangerous? Although it's early, after watching the sc dogfighting clip it seems like elite dangerous has a really smooth engine

I haven't been paying really close attention to it but there has been a lot of praise for the alpha. I know Chris Roberts is playing it right now, he mentioned it during one of the Livestreams.
From what I have seen it looks pretty good.
It should be noted that Elite: Dangerous is also planned to release in March 2014. They are much closer to finished than SC is. Elite: Dangerous is not really quite on the same scale as Star Citizen but I really hope it is successful. I love space sims and hopefully it would be a good game to play in preparation for SC.
I would expect SC's actual release date to be quite a bit down the road (sometime in 2015). A lot of media have been saying that the game is "scheduled for release" in late 2014 but that has never been the plan. That is originally when the beta test was expected to start for Star Citizen (the persistent universe).
