I think Fitzgerald might even be more respected by his peers than Iggy was which really says something.
San Francisco it is. Will be a tough challenge with how good the Niners defence is, plus they have a well rounded run game. They have been the NFL's most consistent team this year so they have earned their Superbowl berth.

I'm totally psyched for the SB (although I'm a Bucs fan), as my son has cheered for the niners as long as I can remember (Faithful then, Faithful now).
It's just going to be a great game, KC speed vs SF Grit and sheer brutality. [+ watching R. Sherman playing for the good guys is always a great thing]

The Niners don't want to run by you, like the Chiefs do. They want to run, stop for a moment, punch you in the mouth, keep running, wait for you to catch up and then punch you in the mouth one more time just because.

I do wonder how that Dolphins win in week 17 changed the whole AFC Dynamic. Rather than play a hot Titans team in week 1, the Chiefs had the week off and it was the Patriots who had to take them on first. By the time they made their way to the Chiefs, how much of their game plans had they given away, and were they a bit fatigued. Similarly if Baltimore draws Houston in their first round game instead do the Texans let them off the hook for their early errors, and they are the team that's not looking back.
Similar in the NFC where if the Seahawks don't screw up the game management and put the 49'ers on the road twice, and the Saints are the team getting a bye in week one, who knows how that all shakes out.
Either way, I pay homage to Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins, as without them it's hard to say if I would get to see the Chiefs in the Superbowl this year. Simiarly I night be cursing out Pete Carroll for allowing San Francisco to have an easier path to the Superbowl for his poor game management.

No doubt things have broken very nicely for the Chiefs, but even if they had to go through the 3 seed I just can't bet against Mahomes anymore. He makes the very difficult look obscenely easy. If anything you can thank the Bears and Bills for deciding they didn't need him.

This morning they were discussing which colleges had the most players on each roster, how many players from each of the major college conferences etc. I had no idea there were any Canadians playing. Turns out Kansas City's starting O Guard played at McGill (Laurent Duvernay-Tard).

Been trying for 2 weeks to convince myself to pick the Chiefs tomorrow, but I just can't stop leaning towards the Niners. Mahomes is the best player on the field, but historically when a top ranked offence takes on a top ranked defence, the D usually comes out on top. Maybe it's because I still have the Seahawks/Broncos Super Bowl in my head when it was #1 O vs #1 D and Seattle destroyed them 43-8, but I can't get past it.
KC's slow starts these playoffs concerns me as well.. this isn't Houston or Tennessee, you fall down a couple TDs to San Fran, I don't like your odds of getting back into it..Mahomes or not. Plus Garoppolo and that O already showed they can score if they must, in that wild 48-46 game at the Superdome, against a good Saints D too. I just think they're the more balanced of the two teams. Chiefs D has played much better as of late, but it's still not great.
Niners 34-28. After a sloppy 2-2 start, let's see if I can close out 6-1 here..but I'm happy to end on an L. Go Chiefs!

Bosa and Buckner with a sack each and Shanahan runs a similar offense like the one used against the Seahawks (the 90% running game will not work with KC).
Niners by 3 - High scoring game - 24 - 21

I just go to the matchup in the trenches and I think the Niners are better both on offense and defense there.
I think the Chiefs should win. Mahomes is considerably better than Garoppolo and as we have seen there will come a time when the Chiefs start scoring TD's and the opposition needs to match up score for score and the 49ers are built with a methodical approach of running to set up the pass which doesn't lend itself to winning this type of game.
The one caution is that Reid has shown a propensity for overthinking things at times in the playoffs and I don't discount that he could have another bad day at the worst time.
