Statsny- 6.66M better. Assuming 3yr deal, that works out to 2.5M / yr for 3 years. Those are low salaries

Hornqvist- 5.25M better. Asssumunt 3 yr deal, that works out to 1.8M per year roughly, so MJKs next closest offer was 1.5M/yr for Hornqvist.

I never would have thought going in that 2.6M for Statsny and 1.6M per yr for Hornqvist would have done it. Especially with a lot of cap space floating out there. On first pass I saw about 75M that could to be spent.

No offers for Boro? That ensures he'll be overpaid in batch 2

I really don't think any of them were serious contending bids. I more or less made sure that the big 3 would need an honest offer and didn't go for free

Yeah it's a good strategy for landing some value contracts. If I recall you got Letang on a killer deal that way.
Usually there's one or two really low offers that win.
This year there weren't many outlandish deals, but there weren't any crazy low winning offers either.

I am assuming that would put the next offer at about 2mill a season. I was thinking someone would bid mid 2s so I went high enough to ensure I got him.

I put in an honest bid on Subban just to make sure he went for a decent contract. I’m surprised I was as close to the winning bid as I was.

I missed Kovalchuk by .63 total. But I wanted him at less than 2 and that’s ultimately where he fell.

It was a fun process. As always the predicting is tough and adds to the intrigue.

I think that was Inufie who landed Letang at like $1M.

Edit - I went back and looked. Letang and his $1M contract did indeed end up in Carolina.

I was thinking that all of the Tier one guys were going to get bigger dollars and decided to sit it out.

Definitely an eye opening batch. Makes me think that maybe I shouldn’t have re-signed Marchessault and freed up some of that cap to get involved. Was expecting much higher bids.

Also Ha to Shattenkirk. Their camp was valuing his UFA contract to be really high. Serves him right for holding out and having to settle for the price he did at.

There's some really reasonable contracts here, especially in those bottom 4 guys.
Chara at $1.00 per is a steal of a deal for the Preds.
Great goalies still available in batch 2 as well.
