Mark Spector: "The Oilers are just unlucky to be down in the series!"

What a goof.

The funny part is that the Oilers are getting tuned by another team with just a handful of good players, but the role-players are just better.

Remember, the Oilers were deadline buyers and the Hawks were sellers.

How is it luck?

Blackhawks are and have been better 5 on 5.

If you're losing the 5 on 5 battle and putting less pucks on the net than your opponent in that situation, then why are you chalking it up to luck that the Blackhawks got a couple of bounces while actually getting pucks on net at even strength?

You have to work for your luck. Oilers just lean on their McDrai PP crutch game in and game out and don't put their work boots on outside of that, and especially not in their own end.

But sure, chalk it up to luck. Spectacled hack.

I picked Chicago to beat Edmonton. 50% because I fricken just hate Edmonton, and the other 50% because teams that start clicking before the playoffs are always so dangerous. For Chicago to rise in the standings enough to get into this tournament says a lot IMO of them as a team. Not a contender, but a very dangerous team that you can't take lightly. On top of this, they are a team with a leadership group that just knows how to win.

Edmonton is not a team that knows how to win, is not a team that is built to win, and quite honestly, often looks like a team that is disinterested in winning.

More like: “I guess it truly is a team sport, Oilers completely outclassed”.

The team with the most depth is winning the series. That's the way it should be. The Oilers media never learned this.

What a goof.
All he's focusing on is that Chicago scored a couple of deflected point shots to win game 3.

People tend to focus on only the breaks at the end of games.

He conveniently forgets the 5-6 posts Chicago hit during the game.

The best you can say is that the Oilers were unlucky to lose a game they had no business winning in the first place.

The fact of the matter is, Edmonton should be embarrassed to lose to a Chicago team that is, at best, game, with experienced high end players, but which lack the defensive type of game that would go far in the playoffs.

There is a reason the Hawks were sellers, and they moved likely one of their most important players come playoff time, Lehner, especially with Crawford coming back slowly from COVID.

Comparing their situation to Calgary, with the Jets massive injuries, I think the Flames would have been embarrassed to lose to the Jets. How did the Flames handle that challenge? They outscored them 10-2 in the last 2 games. You take luck out of the equation. And it's not like the Flames have a reputation of being playoff warriors.

He is a goof, and he should be as embarrassed as the Oilers are.

The Oilers could still win their series, but the fact of the matter is, they aren't appreciably better than the Hawks. It's likely time for Kane to get his obligatory hat trick in an elimination game. I still fondly remember him eliminating Vancouver with one years ago. Time to put a stake in Edmonton's heart this time.

Unlucky by definition is not losses caused by playing the game the wrong way, standing in front of the ref and doing something stupid, and have your lineup top to bottom playing a lazy defensive game which causes more penalties, and more deliciously more goals against.

Wow, I'd say the 50/50 is going to be capped again. Up over $180000 already and I've been unable to buy tickets for nearly an hour now.

The Oilers 50/50 is the only thing I am interested in right now. They say that this time there will be 2.5 times the tickets available. Will they sell out today? What's the jackpot going to be? Over 10mil?

They should have implemented a queue of some kind for the 50/50 site.

This is bush league.

If the site crashes and they can't get the raffle going, it will be so Oiler-like...

The most likely culprit is that when this site was set up they did not even consider that a province-wide raffle would generate this much interest.

They're going to need some upgrades on the back end and that doesn't happen instantly.

It's funny because it is struggling and hardly anyone is getting through so the payout isn't increasing like it did the other day. I was able to finally get through by repeatedly refreshing at each step of the process, 5+ times at each step. Don't start over, just keep going and refreshing, it will retain your information at each step.

Looking at the NHL's page of play-in scoring leaders tells you everything you need to know about the historically bad Edmonton Oilers. Their big three forwards are #2, 3, and 4 in scoring, and then their #4 leading scorer does not appear until the middle of the second page: James Neal is ranked #75 with a goal and an assist. For perspective, the Flames have EIGHT players with more than two points.
