I thought it was commonly agreed around CP that the Flames don't have any high-end talent.
So who do you put on your power play? Your high-end talent, if you've got it. If you have none, it's going to be ugly no matter what.
Maybe blaming the PP coach isn't the way to go here. Just saying.

Latest pgt ever?
Anyway, special teams were a killer tonight. Especially the powerplay. All season with this. Amazing there are a couple more teams with worse pps than ours.
Onwards!

Went to the game, very uneventful as a flames fan. Cool to see Ovie score 2 goals though.
Wolf was positionally strong, and Weegar + Miromanov seem to be developing decent chemistry together.
Needed more from Huberdeau, Kadri, Coleman, and many more tonight.
Better to loose now though then win. (Not that I will ever cheer for losses)

I think there is accountability on both sides. Savard needs to create a system that’s tailored to the talent he has. In saying that though, he doesn’t have a lot of high end players to work with. If he was managing a group that had Johnny, Tkachuk and Lindy at their best, who’s to say it wouldn’t be excelling.

Either play Coronato more than 8 minutes a night or send him back down.

The sell-off trades sewered their hopes. It too much change mid-season. That's not their fault. They've played well all things considered, but had to be near-perfect the rest of the way to have a shot. Now we're playing out the string and getting extended looks at the future.
A fresh season with the new group without the new coach adjustment period putting them behind the ball will be interesting. Maybe Tanev circles back and he and Miro can tear ### up as the second pair.

Garbage power play has been garbage for a long time.
30th in the league should get the coach fired. The players are still NHL’ers I think.

That's right.
People were complaining about the power play being garbage before Savard was hired. That was with Lindholm and Toffoli still on the PP, where they were the top two point producers.
I look at the roster they have now, and I see a total of two players who ought to be on the first PP unit on an NHL team. Scotty Bowman couldn't construct a winning power play with this roster.

Shocking that a team with not a lot of good high quality shooters is struggling on the powerplay. News at 11. If the Flames had those guys they'd be in the playoffs. If they had those guys they wouldn't have traded off the UFA's.
Its the reason why they are missing the playoffs and needing to rebuild.
They need to find those shooters in the draft.

Was at the game. Not sure if it was just me but Wolf looked bad tonight too. That first goal against looked really weak in person.
This isn’t to suggest it was all on him tonight but it certainly didn’t help.
